This thread is to discuss anything within Season 1 of "Battlestar Galactica." NO spoilers, please, for anything beyond that point.
(I'll start another thread for Season 2 once I'm finished with that one.)
I finally did finish watching all of Season 1 a few hours ago. It was hard not to pop in the first disc of Season 2 but household obligations called. I am anxious to find out how they're going to save Adama (we last saw him bleeding all over the LiteBrite map board thingy). And what Boomer's going to do now that she has evidence she's a cylon. Will she believe it? Will Gaius eventually rat on her and admit her test came up red and not green?
Will Roslin start to redecorate the brig? And why does she have a Scotch tape dispenser on her desk on Colonial One??
Why does Kobol look like a bad cross between Stonehenge and Serenia in Myst 4?

Rushing off to work right now, but...
Can't answer all of the questions, but I can say they all have answers except the last two.
The Season 3 premiere has a shot of someone - won't say who because then you'll know that the character lasts that long, and not everyone survives season 2 ;) - using a mirror. The mirror is sold at Ikea and the model is called Frack. :-D

That's hilarious. I assume that Ikea named it that by accident (since I think they spell it "frak," don't they?), and that BSG just picked it up and threw it in there as a sort of easter egg. Not sure about the Scotch tape dispenser, but it made me laugh to see it sitting there.
In many ways I know a lot of folks who survive into Season 3 because I went to the web site on SciFi and downloaded a few desktop shots. I assume anyone in a desktop shot currently is probably still on the show. Then again, they were all characters I would have assumed would still be on the show anyway.
I will try to watch at least two episodes today ... although the next disc won't arrive now until Tuesday. (Send Season 1 disc today; it arrives there on Monday; they send out next disc on Monday; it arrives here on Tuesday.) So, I have to make this disc last till Tuesday around noon.
P.S. The first pic above is a screen shot from the PC game Myst IV: Revelation. The second is of Kobol. There are closer similarities but I didn't want to spend all evening hunting for a better screen shot. You get the idea. ;)
So...how did you like the final episode of Season 1, Aus? When Adama got capped, I fell off my chair. The way she just works the assassination attempt into the handshake motion, totally took me by surprise. Great, great stuff...
You have a ton more fun and excitement on the way! I cried at last night's episode... That makes two weeks in a row that BSG has misted me up... Incredible writing!

Sedai, yeah, when she pulled out that gun and shot, I was totally floored. NOT expecting that at all, even though she kept having premonitions that she was going to hurt someone. Go figure. :) GREAT turn of events there.
Okay, I just want to go on record here with a few thoughts before I get into Season 2. I do NOT want anyone to tell me I'm right or wrong, or even to HINT one way or the other. I just want to be on record (with a date on the post) before I watch any more, with some ideas on where I think a few things are going.
That way, if I'm right, I look brilliant. If I'm wrong, well, you all get a good laugh.
A few things got me thinking:
I downloaded this desktop the other day:
http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/images/downloads/desktop_keyart_800.jpg
I didn't think much about it, until I started thinking of a few other things that have been bugging me:
** Why is the blonde cylon called Number Six? Although she seems like she's got the most control of all the models, I know we haven't seen all 12 models yet. So, I would naturally think Number One would be the most important one. We haven't seen this one revealed yet. So who is it? Someone we already know?
** Why does Gaius keep seeing a cylon in his "halluncinations"? Are they hallucinations or is there something more going on here?
Then I looked at that desktop again. Remember that this is a current desktop from the SciFi site, and I'm only at the end of Season 1.
My first thought was that they have the humans along each side and the cylons in the middle. But then I realized that no, Gaius is the middle of two cylons.
So now I'm thinking Gaius is a cylon ... the "head" cylon model, if you will. I'm not entirely sure he even knows he's a cylon. But (and I find this funny given our discussions on the shoutbos), to me this would explain his wild swings of emotion and his real trouble controlling his emotions. He has "too many" of them, or he's the most "human" model and is having difficulty reining them in properly just yet.
So there you have it: My theory is that Gaius is a cylon.
Don't say anything one way or another -- it would totally ruin it for me if you confirmed OR denied it here. I just wanted to get it out there so you can either snicker at me privately or think, "Gee, she's smart."
And now, back to the discussion....

YES, I am very curious how they're going to get Adama out of this (literal) mess. And why did no one start any sort of CPR-type tactics on the guy? They all just stood there with their hands on his chest and stared at each other. I suppose it was supposed to be a dramatic moment, but sheesh. Where were the freakin' paramedics? :)
I keep trying to get to the Season 2 disc sitting near the TV, but hubby's home from outpatient surgery and it's been tough to get any real time with either the TV or away on the second floor all by myself. I keep saying this, but TODAY, I hope! Adama's been bleeding for a week now. ;)

Just watched the last episode of season one. Was floored. Incredible scene of the assasination. I'm still trying to figure out why the Cylons are letting the humans get away with things, the blond chick could have easily taken Starbuck out and/or destroyed the arrow...what are they up to?

Adi, I forget when the show reveals what, or when certain motives become more obvious, so I won't say anything. You did make me think for a moment why Number 6 (the blonde chick) didn't just take out Starbuck during the fight surrounding the arrow, and then I figured it out myself based on things I've learned in shows since then.
It's not a mistake, though -- I'm sure of that. It's not obvious at the end of Season 1, but keep watching!! (There are threads for Season 2 and Season 3 here -- I did that so as not to spoil earlier seasons for those watching the first time through.)

Thanks for that btw, now I can walk into any specific thread without having to worry that I'll read something I'm not supposed to. You're a clever gal you are...;)
There is some major plan in the works by the cylons, that much is sure, but right now it seems to encompasing for me to try and figure it out based on the info from the first season. They need the humans for something, otherwise, Sharon would have detonated that nuke on Galactica and basically got rid of all the remaining humans. I'm guessing their plan is or was to create some new species, but why are they interested in humans finding Earth? The Caprica Sharon brought Helo to the Musem and told him the arrow is expremely importaint. Then number 6. shows up there as if she was expecting someone to come back for the arrow. It's as if they're guiding humans how it suits them. Especially after they let Galactica Sharon blow up that cylon base just so she could shoot Adama. But why kill him and not destroy Galactica instead!? Too many questions!! I can't wait till next wednesday!!
Ive just got into Battlestar and im loving it Ive seen all of season 1 and I was so gobsmacked when Adama got shot by Boomer, I didnt see that coming a mile off. This is a brilliant show and im currently making my way through season 2 with my bro-in-law and Pedz :yup:
So im not going in to the other threads yet :D
