Mr Pike,

You are, without a doubt, the most knowledgeable film person I've ever run across. I am kissing your @ss because I hope to learn a bit from your extremely wide breadth of knowledge.

Could you please, if it's not too much trouble, list me out your favorite 10 Film Noir films. I don't want to make unnecessary work for you, so you don't have to tell me why... just make me a list if you're so inclined.

Thanks!

You might want to check out this post (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showpost.php?p=54268&postcount=2) in this thread (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?t=2593&highlight=noir). :D

Cool, thanks Sammy.

I figured he'd either ignore me or call me a name or two and then link me up if he'd done this before.

That's a great thread, actually. I'm entering a lot of titles into my 'must buy' list at IMDB

Don't you dare! I enjoy abuse from certain people. :p

You know what? I just discovered the Elmer Fudd language setting in Google and am, right now, having myself a grand old time.

This thread should die.

I wish I could stop bumping the gorram (Serenity) thing. I think I'm going to bump it until TUKA (possible new glossary term The User Known As) Holden Pike lays some sort of comment here.

I do believe it should die, though. Just not right now.

What do you think?

Personally, I don't see any great value in having threads on page one that haven't been commented in in weeks. Rock on, Toose.

Hee hee. Love that word. And that movie. And that show, of course; have you sprung for the Firefly series on DVD yet?

Why was this thread posted all the way down here to begin with, and not up in one of the movie forums? I don't look down here too often, definitely not for somebody asking for movie advice.

But yes, refer to those older threads Sammy found for you (utilizing the site's search function available to everyone; easy to use, self-explanatory...check it out sometime). Chinatown is my all-time favorite movie, but some of the many must-sees for Noir include The Asphalt Jungle, The Killing, In A Lonely Place and Out of the Past. For starters, anyway.

Ther should be an entire seperate section of MoFo for Holden and his reviews, reccomendations and etc. Therefore there's no need to start threads for him, or post links to other threads with stuff he wrote. Just a handy suggestion. :D

Nope, but I have a friend who did and I borrowed\watched all the episodes. I think I am going to buy it though. I'll definitley want to watch it all again.

I don't know, it seemed the right place to ask a specific person a specific question versus polling the populace. Actually, I suppose I could have PM'd you and rendered this ridiculous thread obsolete at its inception but it didn't occur to me until, alas, it was too late.

I offer my deepest and sincerest apologies to all who were offended by this thread. I can't explain my motivations for posting it. You may liken me to Faust in his 23rd year, acting out of sheer desperation!

Thank you Mr. Pike for the tiresome yet wholly expected jab around the site's search feature as well as for your selfless act of transcending down into the intermezzo pit where post counts rise and IQ's sink!

I can tell you missed me. I think I shall have to hang around a bit and try to knock the cobwebs off of some of the local faultfinding fussbudgets.

We should build a shrine! I'll draw up the plans post haste!

Seconded, re: The Killing. I just caught that late-night recently and was very impressed. And by impressed, I mean "suprised how late it was, when it ended and I looked at the clock, which is a foot from the TV".
