View Full Version : You Where Born When?!

When was the first time you became conscious of your age, or that you felt old...

I think for me it must have been in 1997, I was at the Wimbledon versus Liverpool game where Michael Owen scored his first goal. I think he must have been 17 and I was soon to become 19.

I thought about this when reading an article today about the making of Tron, which for those of you who are old enough, is 25 years old now...:(

I know I'm not as old as some of you and I'm certainly not OLD, but, I'm going to be 23 in November. I am feeling old now. I think that time really does fly by as you age.

I felt old at 24. Now 25. yikes. And I agree with you sexy time really does fly faster as you age. School seemed like an eternity, today feels like a second.

I have always looked younger than my age. It used to get me angry because people sometimes talked to me thinking I was 15, when I was 20. It's pretty funny when the person saying this to me is younger than me LOL.

Why did that get you so stunned? I like those polite terms. You were just a young lady. A blossoming belle.

I've got a friend who's a doctor and he delighted in telling me how good the human body was at recovering from hard living. Until the age of 25, that is...

On my 25th birthday I realised that I'd become mortal. Still, I'll leave a reasonably good lookin' corpse. ;)

my mother always says that her younger years (teen and 20s) were tough, emotional, scary...and that her 30s and so-far 40s have been much more enjoyable...anyway, food for though :D

i look forward to getting up there...i'll take all the changes with a grain of salt and treasure all the good things about being "middle-aged"...and hopefully, have someone to share it with.

I feel old because my time share kid is 10 this year!!!!
The last 5 years have passed so quickly, I don't feel 33, especially not first thing in the morning where I feel 133!
Just as well I look really young for my age, my classmates thought I was 25, must be all that rain, good for the skin?

P.S. Note to single foxy Mofo women, my timeshare kid actually belongs to my best mate, I have no kids that I know of, but I'm always up for the practising bit.......... ( must resist randy smilie! )

Yeah, I knew people who had tough adolescenses too, so I don't want to give the false impression that I was a particularly depressed kid or living in tough circumstances. In my case I think it was just really tough to imagine an adulthood that was anything but mediocre and disappointing. Plus I was a pretty active teenager, which made the dayjob lifestyle even more unfathomable. I've always assumed that this is how growing up looks to most other kids too.

I always assume Ill live to be 100. That makes 50 middle aged...

Either way, nothing stops a clock, I definatly wouldnt want to turn it

I look younger than I am, which might lead you to believe I also feel younger than I am. But since people often become surprised when they hear my age it actually works the other way around. "Wow! You're thirty???".... "Eh... Yeah.. Yeah, I'm thirty, that's correct...".

Also the fact that I have a lot of younger friends makes me feel both young and old. Young because they have that effect on me, I guess, and old because I'm often the oldest one of the gang.

Can't remember the first time I felt OLD though.

I remember as a kid I did the math to figure out how old I'd be when the year 2000 hit. I was going to be 38 years old ... and I thought, "Wow, I'll be old by then. I hope I'm still young enough to enjoy it."

Then, when the year 2000 actually hit, I remembered that early childhood thought and realized that, essentially, I didn't feel any different or any older than I did when I first thought it.

Side Note: And, I realized I *wasn't* old when 2000 hit. Let's just say I was ... not acting my [old] age. *is it hot in here?*

One of the times when I felt old is: I was 24 and I was going out with a guy who was 19  I broke it off after we spent a night with his friends were 18-19 and there girlfriends were all 14-16, I had nothing to say to these kids, I had been working since I was 15, married and divorced, completed 2 Nursing degrees so i felt really old http://bestsmileys.com/fainting/1.gif

Where is the link for the test?

me, ive been advanced most of my life, so I always felt incredibly young and inexperienced around my schoolmates and colleagues. then around my friends I felt far too mature, but they didnt care and I didnt care, as I was so happy to act "my age." (whatever)

I didnt feel old when I graduated.
I didnt feel old when my friends got married.
I didnt feel old when they all had children.

I felt old when the little girls that were my friends little sisters began to go to college; get married; have children, etc.

I'm currently 16 years old (twas my birthday a couple of Fridays ago), and to be honest I seem to act more maturely than most of my peers in terms of taste (although a few of my friends enjoy the same films and music that I do, so all is not lost). I took the test posted earlier - apparently I am 19. Not too different I guess.

I feel lucky in that I was born in 1970. I had older brothers, so I got to see how teens lived and looked in the 70's, was a teen in the 80's, and a full on gen-x slacker in the 90's. Of all three decades I gotta say the 70's were the worst. Just the way everything looked. People looked bad, cars looked bad, carpets looked bad, you name it.

not that i fully understand the point of this thread but here it goes:
i'm 23, feel and always will feel 17 ( i suppose it's a guy thing ), at times i look 17, at times i look older, sometimes i act like i'm 13 ( most of the time ), sometimes i feel a bit more mature ( say....15 ), sometimes people tell me i'm mature ( people that haven't seen me act out in real life though ), mostly because i deal out advice as if i've actually lived life and have any wisdom ( which i don't, i just like to be a smartars )

i'm starting to feel the years go by as of recent....for example, it just occured to me that i remember the night i heard kurt cobain killed himself ( 12 years ago ) and that troubles me, that so much time has passed since an event i actually have a clear memory of. it's been 10 years since i moved to a different city from my parents to go to highschool....also troubling....a full decade....the definitive years of my young manhood ( the 90's ) are now almost as distant as the 80's were back then.....deeply disturbing....also , i talk to kids on my music forum that say they've listened to britney spears when they were kids ( 8-9 )...that was some 6-7 years ago i believe....

I was born in 1990, on August 16th, in a hospital in Denver. My first memory is on my 3rd birthday. I had never really considered my own existence until the 6th grade. I feel as though each day I am an older, different person from yesterday, so in sense, I am born every day. I can't really say what my actual birthday is.

I finally felt old yesterday.

I went to the shopping center with my friend Eric and he wanted to look in Hot Topic for a ring with a skull on it like Keith Richards has. So I went in there and honestly, I felt every last one of my 30 years all at once. Couldn't help it. I could NOT deal with all these "punk" kids, aping a long dead 1970's counter-culture, or the bad music that passes for "punk" these days...there as a girl with a mohawk and piercings everywhere, and I thought, "Oh wow, it's Franken-unemployable!" I had to get the heck out of there...

So yeah, I'm old.

Real age: 41

First felt old at 30 when my husband's nephew asked me to go to a White Zombie concert with his friends and him, not because I was cool, but because his mom said he needed to find an adult to take them and keep an eye on them...frickin' kids

The quiz says I'm 16 but I'm really 19. Although I kind of answered in such a way to give me a low age, because in my mind I don't really want to grow up and be less free. But almost unconsciously I'm getting older in certain ways. Firstly I tend to be somebody people feel they can depend on so when they do something stupid they come to me to talk about it and ask for advice......like some kind of older brother or something.....

I do kind of aspire to be like people I admire, who are usually older. Like say my dad for instance; he wouldn't just go out with somebody he just met without getting to know them first, so why should I?

maybe he is a dag but then again what's wrong with that? when I have kids i'm gonna buy some horrendous dressing gown and read books by the fire too........altho put me within 100 metres of a a rock concert and I somehow get up the front, go crazy, lose my voice and wake up a little less myself but that may go away with time, we'll have to see :p
