I know I haven't been around that much so forgive me if I missed an announcement or something but, has the reputation system been removed?

Anyone who doesn't log in for 3 days is no longer allowed to see the rep system.

Yes, it's been turned off for the time being. References to this change have been made in both the Server Switch (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?t=11634) and Site Upgrades (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?t=10920) threads.

The Rep system didn't make much sense to me anyway, I don't think I could give any rep until I had....about 5 green dots or something.

yeah I miss the rep system too, It was a way to say 'good on you' for a cool post and made you feel good when people did it to you. I don't really know if people abused the system or what happened but I always liked it. It made you feel like you were a part of a community in a way, as you became more involved in threads people tended to rep you for your contribution. Of course I always wanted to contribute but when your efforts are validated it makes your more compelled to continue....

The only downside i saw from the rep was it made MoFo some what elitist so now we're all even.

I liked (as SpoOky said) being able to give someone and nod in regards to a good post etc, and likewise receiving them.

Perhaps if the Rep system was returned, only minus rep points....?
