View Full Version : What is wrong with you, ya' freak!?
Born with a hole in your heart? Do you have a pint-sized twin growing inside you? Let everyone know!
I've got a small dosage of things wrong with this mortal shell...
I was born with Hip Dysplasia. I couldn't tell you what kind or how bad it was, but for the first months of my life I was on my back wearing a brace that wrapped around my hips. As far as I can tell there were no lasting affects, unless I walk funny and everyone is too nice to tell me.
I also have Gilbert Syndrome which is a "metabolic abnormality" of the liver which results in considerably higher levels of white blood cells and bile. I got diagnosed with it around age 13 during a routine blood test, then about a year or so ago I was having another routine blood test done and apparently the documentation around the previous discovery was lost/forgotten so the doctors freaked out at my white blood cell count and ordered an immediate ultrasound of my abdomen (which of course freaked me out). That was an interesting experience and I still swear to this day that I saw the doughy skull of a child next to my kidney on that monitor.
Oh, and I'm double jointed in my hands, so it always cracks me up when someone notices and shouts at how gross it looks when I hold a pool cue. It is perfectly natural to me and I simply fail to imagine what it feels like for my thumb to bend normally.
I'm sure there are probably other things wrong with this organic machine, but that is all that comes to mind at the time. Though I was born with another genetic defect, but I'll leave people guessing as to what that was. :D
Whose next?

I think a photo is in order. I can't imagine what this looks like.
I have severe nearsightedness and astigmatism, and have been monitored for glaucoma for the last few years.
I have arthritis in my fingers and hips which doesn't usually bother me, but every once in awhile, I'm 90.
Varicose veins in me right leg. Oh yes. Had to wear a special stocking while playing footie for a while, out in the heat of spain. Very stylish. S'alright generally tho. Docs looked inside my leg at one point and said it was just a surface prob. So i can exercise as much as i like, i just get a lovely extra dose of pain .
Veeeeeeeeeery short-sighted. When i first got contacts i expected small glass bowls.
I'm veryvery slim. High metabolic rate. I don't mind this one too much tho ;).
Erm, i'm a lefty :).

I have an extra dimple. Where? Well it aint in my cheek, that's all i'm saying.
I wasnt born with this, but I have a finger on my right hand, which has a tip that resembles a little bum. In other words when I was 3 it was closed in a door by my cousin...my finger split in half, it was basically hanging off, blood squirting, exciting stuff, got it stitched up, now it looks like a bum...when I was about nine I asked my mum if I was disabled, I think I was actually disappointed when she said no.
There. Am I in the club?

Give me £10000, a psych consultation, a bucket of hormones, a pair of yellow Y-fronts and I will be. :)

My index fingers and one of my toes are crooked. Also they are extremely long. One of my teeth is half plastic because I smashed it out of my face in a biking accident. I could list a little more but I don't feel like it.

My chest is depressed nearly two inches. Some people die from this condition, because the depression actually moves the heart out of alignment over time.
Fun fact: My friends and I refer to this rather convenient condition as "cupholder disease." Yes, that's right. I sometimes use it as a cupholder.

I'll make a list of my medication if you like, but it's depressing. I could also scan my little Disabled Driver permit which is quite groovy and allows me to park closer to the pub.
Tonight the pills have been replaced by Stella so can't complain... :)

I can lift my big toe while the others remain on the ground. Does that mean I'm special too? :D
I can also do that double-jointed thang with my thumb, but only the right one 'cos I broke it playing footie when I was 12...

I'm going deaf. I can not hear clearly out of my right ear, and it rings a LOT. I wish people would be polite and speak up when they are around me, but most don't and I have to guess what they're saying. really fun, as you can well imagine.

Hmm... let's see... I have a mild form of Dyslexia… a benign tumor on my pancreas that causes havoc with my blood sugars at times… I can bend my fingers at the distal interphalangeal joints while the rest of my finger remains straight… two of my fingers on my right hand are crooked from being broken… and I have a half moon scar on my left cheek...
I have a scar on mi right bicep from getting 32 stiches when I was 10 years old. It was from climbing a tree, a branch I was standing on broke and on the way down my arm snagged on the branch. I got bit by a horse above my eye, I think it was Pid..:D. I can dislocate my left knee at will. I can bend back my left index finger till it touches my wrist, it hurts like Hell though, but hey for $5 I'd do almost anything.
I can go from having a flat top to a whitemans afro in about 3 months. I bet I can outdrink any Irish person here, or anyone for that matter. Not proud of this though and I rarely do it anymore, but I have a very fast bladder whn I am drinking alcohol. As long as I can go pee I can drink all night. I have to hold it in so I can even get a buzz. Yep I am a freak I know.

Erm...I can drum my fingers. Means I can do a drumroll with one hand.
Not sure if that qualifies, it just seems like no-one I know can do it...
Nothing too weird. I had a fairly major surgery as a young child; something wasn't developing right and was apparently a substantial cancer risk or something of the sort. I have vague memories of it.
Beyond that, I have a slight scar on my chin from falling down some steps outside when I was little, and I've got a few fillings. No fake teeth, highly visible scars, broken bones or missing limbs, though. I suppose I've been pretty fortunate.
I think I have a pretty low lung capacity, but I suppose that's it.

I have Spinal Muscular Atrophy type II
hooray :D
I wasnt born with this, but I have a finger on my right hand, which has a tip that resembles a little bum.
I have something similar: on one side of my body (not the front side), where my back ends, there are protuding globular mounds that resemble a bum.
I have a weird face. One side is quite attractive while the other looks like someone hit it with a sledgehammer. Well I'm exaggerating but I wish I were more symmetrical. What's weird is that if I gain weight it really emphasizes the difference but when I'm smaller you can barely see it.
I'm double jointed in my thumbs and extremely flexible. I can put my foot behind my head and bend backwards and all that, though I don't think there's anything wrong with that really.
