Anyone else pissed off with their online rental company? Mine (lovefilm) has recieved all three of the dvds I sent back, but not sent anymore back! Last week they only sent out one and the rest two days after they were received back. This is the worst service I have had with a dvd rental service. When I complained they sent me an automated message about their 'Fair Use' policy, which basically means the more dvds you rent, the fewer they send you, (to stop anyone getting value for their money, I suppose) which I don't think answers the question anyway.
So, should I quit now (with 2 weeks paid for up until the end of the month), quit later, or stick it out? Are other rental firms as bad, or can anyone recommend any better? I think I might join screenselect instead. I googled for other firms but some have very poor choice, I might as well go to the video rental shop on the corner...
Any thoughts?
I guess that depends on where you live.
In the states I would try Netflix or Greencine....

I just started renting from Lovefilm because I had to stop buying films. I am just renting two at a time. I just find it an annoyance as they do not come exactly when I want them, but usually the day I get the films, I watch them both, send them back the next day, it then takes two days for them to send out another two.
Maybe you should just change your subscription, see if that helps any. Good luck.

Yeah, joined Screenselect instead and they have been much better at sending out my first choice films and just sending out films in general. :)

Thinking about going for an online rental thing, better value for money than buying DVDs?

Depends. I use mine (Screenselect) for older, obscure or non-English language films as anything current and reasonably mainstream can be borrowed from my local store. I pay £12.49 for 2 discs at a time, unlimited rental so it boils down to how quickly you choose to watch them and send them back.
As to it being better value than buying films, it's the same as with a local rental shop. There are enough programs out there if you want to copy stuff (and I'm not immune to an occasional bout of Long John Silverdom) but I'm a bit anal about wanting to own the real McCoy... ;)

Better value than buying or renting from a video rental shop...providing you are on an 'unlimited' package and watch a lot of films!
If I watch roughly three films a week and pay £15 a month, it works out about a quid a film which isn't bad. Then you can buy the films you liked and want to watch again. I have got to see scores of films within a short time. The other advantage is that they have a huge selection (much better than your local rental shop), silent films, foreign films, films you've never heard of, rather than your typical blockbuster 'new release, porn and horror' collection. The disadvantage is you can wait a long time for newly released films as they are in more demand.
Its a shame... i used to love going to the video store. I just love the idea of finding something i didnt expect. But as a broke and lazy college student, its the best i can afford.

If you're in the US or Canada you might want to try trading dvds instead of renting...I use SwitchDiscs.com (http://www.switchdiscs.com) because it's free.
