I've read that there are people in New Orleans who have already decided to stay again, no matter what. I'll just say: there are things about human behaviour during all this that truly baffle me.

Are there any MOfos on the Texas coast?

I'm in Houston. We're supposed to be getting it pretty bad. I wish to leave but my parents think that we can ride it out and are staying. I don't know what I'm gonna do. It's gonna kill me, not literally (I hope) but it's gonna be hell. Freakin ignorant people, we need to evacuate.

Must be pretty frustrating not to be able to make that decision for yourself. :( Good luck and keep safe!

I know this is off subject, but we are living in such a legendary time. Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, September 11th, the tsunami, and war. It's all going crazy. This really makes me start thinking about the end of the world. I'm not sure, but I remeber something about the world ending in world war III after some strange weather. Anyone else no about this? I can't remember where I'm getting the information. If you know what I'm talking about it would be much appreciated, I want to look more into this and possibly by a video of somesort off the internet. I've been whatching CNN ever since I got home, I just heard about the plane that can't land and about the tornado. I'm not sure how big the tornado is as of late.

Apart from this, I pray that the same does not repeat itself so fast and I hope people have learned a lesson and will leave to prevent more harm that can be done in the future. It makes me sort of angry that people still aren't leaving after just a few days of katrina damage. It's crazy.

I don't know what I can say to change your parents minds... but I really wish they would reconsider... especially if you live in a flood zone.

yesterday rita was just a tropical storm when a feeder band came over us in south florida....we had more wind than rain....so basically we had nothing...

but from my experience being stuck in a cat 3 hurricane and looking at the horrible devastation in new orleans, i must agree...do not wait or even try to ride out the storm...

GO! The worst case scenerio is probably best not experienced, and the best case scenerio means you come home to an undamaged house. Be careful all! Food, water, batteries and a fully-charged cellphone should be readly at hand. Be safe MoFos!

Galveston right now is like a ghost town. I'm watching ABC and they're showing the projected path with it headed towards you and to the DFW metroplex.

Hurricane Rita is reported to be the 3rd most dangerous storm and could get as bad (or worse) than Katrina.

People are evacuating and I strongly suggest you and your parents do the same and further inland.

Today on the news they were reporting on people actually staying there. WHY? They were interveiwing a family that couldn't make up their minds. It's not like flipping a coin or something as small as choosing a movie at Block Buster. O' WEll Hopes and Prayers for those who have the balls to stay and leave.

It landed fine, no one evene hurt that I heard of. :)

And don't be angry at people for not leaving - you don't know their reasons and they may be valid. I'm sure some of them are staying for stupid ones, but not everyone. Don't blame the victims, though.

could also be global warming (especially with the powerful hurricanes)

and now for something completely different

sammy, you are right, but sometimes people do not listen...with our cat 3 hurricane, my parents are too far inland and were not evacuated as people closer to the beach were....even then, there were lots of floods and damage....

and rita was a pretty a strong tropical storm when it hit south florida on tuesday...so if that is indication....

I think he means Time Traveller John Titor.

John Titor posted on an online forum sometime in 2000 claiming he had travelled from the future. It's most likely a hoax but his way of thinking and descriptions of the future and Americas congress etc are real interesting. (http://johntitor.strategicbrains.com/)

Sorry thats so off-topic, i was gonna make a thread on it if anyones interested.

Either way, something screwy is happening with our weather. Two catagory 5 hurricanes make landfall in about a four week period? That aint right.

Good luck everyone in it's path.

yes I was. I wanted something that would scare me, I wanted some thing that would thrill me, like a roller coaster, except the fact that I don't like roller coasters but that doesn't matter. All this hype about it and then we don't get anything. It made me mad.

No, its a bad thing for a hurricane to slow down because its got more time to do more damage than if it just went through.

Quote, from the news cast people. " Hurricane Rita is now a category 12 hurricane. The center of the hurricane is actually a black hole and it will turn all of us into anti matter. And then the enviroment people will say "I told you so!" And the only solice we will fine is that they too, will be turned into anti matter."

-Jon Stewart

I really mistaken slowing for "weak." Sorry about that.

I felt fairly certain that nothing bad was going to happen seeing as how my house had lived through every hurricane or tropical storm to hit Houston since 1928. And with six flags, I Don't like roller coasters and Astro World is closing. I just expected more, that's all. As for my pets, as long as they're in the house they are safe.

Maybe I'm just thinking out loud here, but I don't suppose these hurricanes have affected the British weather at all, have they? I mean, it's hardly hurricane standard, but it's been years since I've experienced winds as strong as these where I am (South West Wales), and the last time was apparently due to a hurricane from America
