Everybody, except maybe Scrooge (of A Christmas Carol fame) loves to love love songs. They can instill in the listener, not just the beauty of love between two people, but an aprreciation for all that is good. When you hear one of these, you can't help feeling that all is right with the world.
"Julia" - The Beatles
"Wild Horses" - The Rolling Stones
"Is This Love" - Bob Marley

i could feel at the time
there was no way of knowing
fallen leaves in the night
who can say where they're blowing?
as free as the wind
and hopefully learning
why the Sea on the Tide
has no way of turning...
More than this...
there is nothing
more than this...
tell me one thing
more than this...
there is nothing
It was fun for a while
there was no way of knowing
like a dream in the night
who can say where we're going?
no care in the world
maybe I'm learning
why the Sea on the Tide
has no way of turning...
More than this...
there is nothing
more than this...
tell me one thing
more than this...

I don't really love love songs, I honestly think that they can be damaging, in that they force the belief that love is the only thing worth pursuing in life and your life is meaningless if you aren't in a relationship. so yeah. F*** love songs. lol.

If you could wanted, you could make a case for music being damaging in any concept....like sex, drugs or even politics. But love songs don't have to be smooshy and talk only of romantic love. There are lots of love songs that talk about different types of love and are really beautiful...like Blind by Lifehouse and In My Daughter's Eyes by Martina McBride.
Blind
I was young but I wasn't naive
I watched helpless as he turned around to leave
And still I have the pain I have to carry
A past so deep that even you could not bury if you tried
After all this time
I never thought we'd be here
Never thought we'd be here
When my love for you was blind
But I couldn't make you see it
Couldn't make you see it
That I loved you more than you'll ever know
A part of me died when I let you go
I would fall asleep
Only in hopes of dreaming
That everything would be like is was before
But nights like this it seems are slowly fleeting
They disappear as reality is crashing to the floor
After all this time
I never thought we'd be here
Never thought we'd be here
When my love for you was blind
But I couldn't make you see it
Couldn't make you see it
That I loved you more than you'll ever know
A part of me died when I let you go
After all this time
Would you ever wanna leave it
Maybe you could not believe it
That my love for you was blind
But I couldn't make you see it
Couldn't make you see it
That I loved you more than you will ever know
A part of me died when I let you go
And I loved you more than you'll ever know
A part of me dies when I let you go

When stories were young
And dreams were not done
And sorrow was so far away
A story book scene
With songs to be sung
And life, life was just for today
But nothing lasts forever
Only love pads the film
Of all the dreams you'll treasure
Only love love pads the film
The love that you make
With two hearts as one
All told, will still flow in the wind.
You give all you take
A day in the sun
But even the sun must descend.
But nothing lasts forever
Only love pads the film
Of all the dreams you'll treasure
Only love love pads the film
