War of the Worlds
(d.Steven Speilberg)
This is by far Steven Speilberg's best work yet to date. It's great to see him give aliens a bad name. Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning are absolutely great together on screen. John Williams also delivers excellence with stirs of echoes of his Jaws score here and there in this movie.
I applaud Steven for sticking with the book, which was the right thing to do. It made it somewhat realistic. For those who have read the book, or some who haven't and know the story already, this will turn out fine. To some who are unfamiliar with the end and its book/story, the film's ending might end up to be a cop-out.
War of the Worlds is yet another exciting team-up between Steven Spielberg, Tom Cruise, and John Williams. If you're looking for an emotional, intelligent and effects filled summer blockbuster - extravaganza, this movie delivers 110%.
My rating: 4_5
