Hey, this is my collection of dvds atm (its from a word doc i use to keep track of each dvd in case the numbering seems odd). Basically i'd like some help refining it. So any DVDs that really don't belong in there, they need to go and please feel free to recommend some.

heh, some other folks on this site have collections that dwarf this one. I am not one of them, as Pyro and I are about neck and neck in title count. He does have a few more than me, though. If I remember correctly, I think Caity is up over 500 discs, and I think it would take a whole weekend to count Holden's collection of DVDs/LDs...

True, it is a lot of money, but the collections are built over a period of many years, so the money is spread out over time...

I didn't see too much Scorsese so I would say Taxi Driver, Mean Streets and Raging Bull are must haves. Also there's no way you can go without Chinatown.

You need the Naked Gun films and some good Mel Brooks comedies. I recommend The Producers, Young Frankenstein, and Blazing Saddles.

Some classic Woody Allen would round things out nicely too. I like Love and Death, Annie Hall, and Sleeper. What about MST3K? Did I miss Ocean's Eleven (the new one)?

So much of this is based on taste, though. My own collection is pathetically small, because I tend to buy only movies I know I could watch over and over again. Anything else I can rent on the rare occasion I'd like to watch it once.

Oh, as for getting rid of any: I'm curious why you own, for instance, Aliens and also Aliens Director's Cut. Perhaps cutting duplicates like this (by keeping the Director's Cut version) would pare things down a little.

Sedai, been watching a Lynch boxset and eBay and i was holding out for the Blade Runner special edition, should i just get it now then?

Fight Club, not sure if i'd watch it much, might get it just so i have it though

Naked Gun- had my eye on it for a while

The Alien different versions are in a boxset, technically not seperate dvds as each film (original and directors cut) is on the same disc

In regards to cost, i'm still in education- living at home hence no bills and i work a damn lot so most my pay has been going on the collection for the past few years

If you've already got it on VHS, I wouldn't bother - the quality of the print isn't any better than watching it on a good VCR.

Of course, this SE could be out on the 12th of Never and as I own 3 copies of Blade Runner, I'm probably talking out of the wrong orifice.

It's better to own a copy and never need to watch it than need to watch a copy and don't own it....or something. :confused:

Wow what a thread......your collection is great....but as for me...I wouldnt get rid of ANY...you are obviously a collector....like myself...you see them all sitting there nice and neat in there great protective cases.....you already have paid for them....I have movies that I know I will not ever watch again....but I still keep them....just for the "sake of the collection"..
