2046 directed by Wong Kar Wai in my opnion WAS VERY GOOD, the story was very deep and though it is slow it was very poetic and his cinematogrophy was mesmerizing
The acting was SUPERB filled with an all star asian cast.
if you want to check out the trailer here it is!

i hope u will one day watch the movie and enjoy it as much as i do
also some tid bits on why it's called 2046 is that
The writer is in the room 2046 and writes about the year 2046
but the movie does not take place in 2046
The title of the film refers to the last year before the 50-year period the Chinese Government promised to let Hong Kong remain as it is. Hong Kong was returned to China in 1997.

I'm still not sure what to make of it. It was really all over the place, as compared with In the Mood. Pretty languid, at some points it just had me scratching my head. The parts I liked best were set in Tony Leung's story, on the train. I'd like to see it again some time. I heard it's also related to Kar-wai's Days of Being Wild, which I haven't seen yet.

hmmm thats interesting
I still need to watch in the mood for love but haven't gotten a DVD copy of it i do have the VCD copy but refuse to watch it because of it's poor quality.
I do agree that it is all over the place but it's really a movie where you have to sit down and think about it afterwards and i think i understood the story well enough to like it but i can tell you this
my favorite part was also the beginning and the story about the robot with delayed reaction
I saw 2046 before In The Mood for Love and thought it was amazing. Then I saw In The Mood for Love and realized 2046 is only a fraction of it.
The cinematography was absolutely gorgeous. The acting was remarkably charming and the score was wonderful, but the plot... The plot, while it was never uninteresting, would often grind along the sides of the hourglass.
I recomend it, certainly, but it's no In the Mood for Love. Though telling a secret into a knot on a tree is one of my favorite cathartic mentions in a movie. Followed in a close second by The Final Cut and the mention of the Sin Eater.

2046 is the best looking movie of last year, bar none, and some of the best cinematography ever. But no, it isn't Wong Kar-Wai's best, and certainly he's least comprehensible thus far. Purposefully so, but still. He's obviously moving further and further into the medium as image and mood over character and plot. Makes for beautiful films to look at, but not terribly resonant, and not terribly deep.

Too bad. I didn't want to 'hear' that. I still look forward to see it, especially since the cinematography is supposedly so beautiful to look at.
Damn...I still need to see Chungking Express too.

The plot in 2046 is a very complicated movie. most of the charachters 2046 are very memorable and all play an important part in the main charachters love life and the movie in my opinion is Very Deep because of it's complicated charachters and how they all contribute to the main charachters story therefore the movie is like a Very Depp Dramatic Poem.
It might be the least comprehensible for you because you don't understand it

Hmm...you might want to rethink what you say to Holden about understanding films. He’s MoFo’s established guru...with good reason. Besides, trying to sound superior usually works better if you actually spell at least half of your post correctly and use grammar that works.
