This is a much smaller scaled movie than Takeshi's other films , but it's also much faster than any of his other work and that's why I enjoy it - even if passes up some of the stuff it could have done....

is underrated stuff that no doubt plays a lot better now that it did back in the 80's. If you enjoyed Stuart Gordon's From Beyond, or just like monster movies in general, then you could do a lot worse than The Kindred....

I did find the film fun and enjoyed action scenes - but it's definitely far behind it's competition Ratatouille and Wall-E....

In summation, then, Kantoku - Banzai reminded me of Monty Python's Meaning of Life - A succession of disparate sketches hung on one tenuous hook. Heck, there's even a Gilliam-esque animation sequence and the closing Glory To The Filmmaker title comes straight out of Life of Brian....

There is nothing particularly special about this movie. It's about drugs in New York and how all the ethnically diverse gangs are warring over it. We've heard it all before. In that case, you've got to wonder what the movie can bring in to spice up this well-worn plot....

The idea to even make this film is questionable. One of Chapman's intentions was to be famous, so it's likely he would love the idea of himself being portrayed on the big screen. But the film is about a lot more than you might think....
