The three years since seeing The Phantom Menace have payed off. Lucas' last attempt, although not a good one, brought in an awful lot of money, even set records. It made Star Wars fans wary of Episode II, however. After word got out of what would be taking place in the new film, and just the fact that Yoda himself would wield a lightsaber and duel was enough to get fans interested in the Force again.

I really didn't find a lot to argue about with this movie, there was significantly less Jar Jar, and more story. One thing I did seem to have a problem with was the fact that it has been 10 years since we last saw everyone, so why does Anakin, played by Hayden Christensen, still act like a little boy? Why this only happens rarely in the film, it seems to really make itself known when it does happen. You can truly see the darkness in which Anakin will eventually become as he defies the counsel, defies his master, and even defies the laws of which he is bound.

Effects in the movie are much better than they were for The Phantom Menace, but there's good reason for that, it's been a few years and technology changes day by day. No surprise to anyone who follows "the Force," most of the characters are CG. When I say most I mean 3/4 of the entire cast.

Cast, well like I mentioned above young Hayden doesn't show the emotion he should have in scenes that obviously called for emotion. Doesn't help that it wasn't a very well written dialogue either. Natalie Portman didn't really improve at all from Episode 1. In one scene she is thrown from a ship, rolls down a sandy hill and lies motionless for a good 5 minutes, when approached she moves around a little, then jumps up like nothing happened. McGregor, well plenty can be said for him, he held the cast together, and delivered one of the best lines in the movie (don't worry, I won't give it away).

As far as the story goes, it was alright, typical George Lucas, but it will never top the The Empire Strikes Back. Was a major improvement over The Phantom Menace but was still lagged by Christensen and Portman's acting.

All in all, very enjoyable flick, and yes Yoda kicked tail.
