(It even flirts with self parody at times, dropping "Gimme Shelter" multiple times during the movie.) It's no surprise that this was the movie that finally won him Best Picture and Best Director Oscars.

I spent two weeks with movies for this purpose and this has been two of the most entertaining weeks of my movie reviewing life, and I'd like to thank my readers for joining me this week.

I mean, even though Sullivan is the love interest of Madolyn in this movie, Billy hits off with her much better, while the supposedly 'ongoing relationship' with Sullivan seems fake (which works in effect to implying how pretentious Sullivan is as a person, I suppose).

Martin Scorsese finally snagged a Best Director Oscar for The Departed and though there are some (myself included) who do not feel this was his best work, the film is more than worthy of the Director Oscar it finally nailed for Scorsese as well as the Oscar for Best Picture of the Year that it also ...

Yeah, there were some nice acting performances in the film, but I found the storyline to be predictable, even the ending, and I felt the genre has been done to death.

Thank you Mr. Scorsese, for letting me have fun at the movies again.

It's not especially ambitious and doesn't have the arc of something like Michael Mann's Heat, it's just a damned enjoyable flick.
