Panic Room
Going into this, I knew, sort of, what to expect. This being a Fincher film, I expected some suspense, mixed with a dash of humor and a hint of drama. I got all of that and more.

David Fincher (The Game, Se7en, Fight Club) has done it again. The man knows how to put together a suspenseful movie and be able to make you feel like you're a part of the action. I must really commend Jodie Foster for her terrific performance, after seeing her in the role of Meg Altman, I can't see anyone else being able to tackle it with the same amount of force she did. Foster plays Meg Altman, a divorced mother, who is going back to school. As the movie starts, we see Altman (Foster) looking at a new house. With her is her daughter Sarah, played by Kristen Stewart. Although it's not brought to the audience's attention until way into the film, Sarah is a diabetic. That may not seem like an important detail, but this is a Fincher film, anything can happen.

Upon inspecting the house, Meg notices the odd shape of one of the rooms, from there she discovers the panic room. Well, I'm sure you've guessed by now that she ends up buying the house or otherwise this wouldn't be much of a movie. So, Meg and Sarah are spending their first night in their new house. Now, I'm sure everyone is familiar with a security system, might be something complex, to something really simple. We all know that when we are trying to learn something, like how to program a security system, it can be a real pain. Meg finds this out just like most of us do, we see her trying to program the system for the house and giving up on it and going to sleep.

Now that everyone is asleep, our three burglars come into the picture. The three are Forest Whittaker, Jared Leto, and Dwight Yoakam (which did a very good job). The main story behind the story was that the man who had lived in the house before Meg and Sarah was very wealthy and had a lot of family wanting their share of the estate. I'm sure, if you really think about it, you'll figure that part of the story out quickly. So naturally, they're looking for the money.

Like I said before, Dwight Yoakam did a remarkable job in this movie. He had the twisted, deranged attitude to him and he was convincing me. All of that surprised the heck out of me.

So, other than the generous rating it has recieved from me, what's stopping you from seeing this movie? David Fincher is known for throwing you in the pot and not turning the heat down for anything, and he pulls it off again. A remarkable film and one that'll leave you breathless for a good half-hour afterwards.
