Connor Macgregor Reviews...Heat

Easily One Of The Best Crime Films you will ever see. My Review in all its glory.

Hunters and their prey--Neil and his professional criminal crew hunt to score big money targets (banks, vaults, armored cars) and are, in turn, hunted by Lt. Vincent Hanna and his team of cops in the Robbery/Homicide police division. A botched job puts Hanna onto their trail while they regroup and try to put together one last big 'retirement' score. Neil and Vincent are similar in many ways, including their troubled personal lives. At a crucial moment in his life, Neil disobeys the dictum taught to him long ago by his criminal mentor--'Never have anything in your life that you can't walk out on in thirty seconds flat, if you spot the heat coming around the corner'--as he falls in love. Thus the stage is set for the suspenseful ending....

Heat is easily one of the best crime films ever made. Two very likeable characters and two stories to tell. Al Pacino is a cop with a troubled love life. Robert Di Niro is a criminal who tries to stay away from bars. When these two personalities collide , its one hell of a ride. The performances are top notch by two of the greatest actors working in the medium. Its hard to say which performance stood out more, but i`d pick Pacino because his character is more compelling than Di Niro`s. Val Kilmar is also terrific as he plays the sidekick to Di Niro`s character. While its not oscar worthy , it is a great performance.

The action in this film really blows the water out of today`s CGI shluck. The shootout in Downtown LA after the hostage is an incredible action piece. Very well done and well directed by Michael Mann. Mann is always good at Crime Films. Heat being one of his best flicks.

So Heat is a work of genius. Its not a masterpiece but it is just as good as. Go out and find it and sit back and enjoy the thrillride.
