Rashomon (1 viewing)

Plot : A story about a murdered man is told in multiple perspectives with details varying from version to version.

Story : Two men who have heard and seen a story about a murdered man tell a stranger who is staying with them the tale. Although it's a great plot for a movie , it's executed horribly. Extreamly long and drawn out scenes drag what should have been 40-50 minutes into 80 minutes : and though it's musical score does ease the pain , I personally do not want to watch a guy walk in the woods for 10 minutes : and every scene becomes tedious like this. Defintly not the character based fast paced story I've come to love Akira Kurosawa for.

Visuals : This stands out the most in this film - with great visuals for the whole of the movie. The rashomon structure looks great and the way it protects against the rain is a really genious setting for the film - as well as when the people are testifying : another great example of setting.

Sypnosis : While a great idea it is , it becomes an incredibly drawn out bore.
