It was announced this week, but kung fu film legend Chan Sing, who appeared as both heroes and villains in many kung fu films of the 1970s, died peacefully in his sleep on September 4 in Jakarta, Indonesia at the age of 82.
Before his prolific acting career, which ran from 1969 to 1996, Chan was a correctional officer and martial arts teacher, teaching his style of Okinawa-te Karate. After his film career, Chan moved to Canada and lived there for a number of years before moving to Indonesia.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth and was preceded in death by his son, piano player and songwriter George Edward Chan, who lost his battle with cancer in 2017.
