Divergent is set in a dystopian future where people are separated into social classes according to their personality types. But what if you don't quite fit in? Teenagers will appreciate the theme of conformity in conflict with the struggle for self-identity. Divergent has a strong, teen female lead which is reminiscent of the Hunger Games and probably explains why this has been underrated by critics. It's actually engaging, entertaining and never dull. It will undoubtedly resonate much more with its target audience, but there's still something here for the rest of us. If you have an interest in futuristic dystopian movies this could be one to check out. 6/10
