Piranha 3DD

In The Running To Be The Worst Film Of The Year

Those pesky piranhas are at it again, this time they've made their way to a water park to chew on a bunch of naked women. Now it's up to Maddy, a young gal who co-owns half the water park, to get the people out of the water.

The first Piranha delivered the right amount of blood and camp to make it enjoyable. There were scenes that were over the top hilarious and going in knowing this helped a lot. In this uninspired sequel the setting has been changed to a water park. Huge mistake.

I don't really know where to start. Lets start with the 3D. It manages to be worse than the original. Which is bizarre considering the filmed this entry in 3D. This film is a huge disappointment. I went in expecting it to be AT LEAST, half as fun as the original. I knew what I was getting myself into, but I didn't expect it to be utterly unwatchable. Not even the cameo of THE HOFF can save this trash.

I don't expect good acting, but I don't expect direct to video fare, especially from people like Panabaker, Bowden and Koechner. The worst aspect of this film is the script. Horrible, utterly horrible. The poor excuse they have for the piranhas getting into the park is ridiculous, the situations the characters find themselves in is laughable. A van going into the water, people stuck inside and on top. The worst offender is when two characters are "stuck" on a dock and the piranhas are destroying the wooden planks from underneath. Not only the worse scene in the film, but probably one of the worst scenes I've ever seen in my life. Poorly acted, directed, edited and written.

The entire film is lazy. The fun is gone, most of the laughs are from The Hoff, but even that wears thin quickly. Gary Busey has a small role in the beginning, the film seriously needed more of him. He never had the opportunity to get his crazy on. The scene where he bites the head off the fish and spits it out is in the trailer, that's all he does. Ving Rhames has his best part ruined in the trailer a well. The film doesn't take itself seriously, which is obvious from the get go with dead fart jokes, but the comedy is more miss than hit. I laughed twice, one involving child endangerment the other is the Baywatch parody.

The naked women were even excessive and unneeded. It all feels forced to capture the exact same formula of the first, but the water park setting doesn't work for that. One thing this film lacked were the Kelly Brook and Riley Steele characters. Here Koechner fires all the lifeguards and hires strippers. The stripper lifeguards do nothing, opportunity wasted.

A ridiculous sex scene puts this film over the top. The scene doesn't play it funny enough, or grotesque enough. It's caught in some odd place in the middle. Yet the film seems to keep the tradition of severed penises afloat. Absolutely no plot whatsoever. The original at least tried, the sequel makes no effort. The attack is actually boring. Not as gory or as fun as the original. It seemed to be cut fairly badly too.

This film is tamer, lamer and something that rhymes with lamer. It makes no effort at all. Usually with sequels you want to go bigger and better, not the case with Piranha 3DD. The film is incredibly short, so expect to see ten or so minutes of outtakes during the credits. Even going in expecting it to be bad doesn't prepare you for the awfulness you will endure.

For comparison, here is my Piranha review.

Suspect's Reviews

I've been surprised that Panabaker was even in the movie just because she's been on disney, lifetime and all the girly stuff. Is she trying to adapt into more sexual roles?

I am also not surprised that the movie did so bad just cuz you might as well be watching a bloody porn, at least from what I heard, although I enjoy the penis floating from the last movie as my favorite " sexual" part.

Some parts of their acting actually gave me a headache. It was just awful.

How can you call it one of the worst ever if you haven't even watched more than ten minutes...

Who is that question for? Didn't the Op watch the movie?

Oh ok lol. Cuz if it was for me, I didn't watch the movie.

I don't have to bother walking right out of the theater, because I didn't see it

Probably. It's the tried and trusted route, epsiecially for actresses, of shedding their previous image (Disney/child actor/etc) and showing they're now an adult. Unless she won't get them out, she should get another agent, though. Even a SMG-style lesbian kiss probably wouldn't break her in a film this bad.

I guess I just consider it more slutty and giving girls a bad image. Especially with actors that were on things like Disney.

Well this sounds rubbish. Haven't seen the first one so won't bother with this. Thanks for the heads up, Sus.

According to Mark Kermode, the trailer for this is actually better than the film, as they use a different cut of a scene in the trailer, which he thought was better.

Her role isn't really a 'sexual' role, nothing about her role is 'slutty/bad image' as you put it. She plays the step daughter who owns part of the water park. She is the lead female role and doesn't have any sex/nude scenes in the film.

Just seen this film, the first film was a lot better and that's saying something and I only bothered with the first film because of Elizabeth Shue.

I meant my second comment as the movie in whole. Being in a movie like that makes me think that that is what shes trying to transition towards. I knew she didn't have any of those scenes either and what her role was. I was saying it because that's the impression I get from movies like that. I saw the last film and the two other girls that had "lead" type roles, aren't they both porn stars? So for me from the last movie, that's the impression I get for the second one. Specially with the name DD.

And the other reason I said that about Panabaker was because she had a leading role in an episode of Grimm where she was a fire dancer, which seemed like a role towards becoming more sexual. I just find it unusual because I always just saw her as a lifetime girl and disney like her little sister.

I'm finding out more and more though that a lot of stars do nudity, which I never realized.

I don't see the problem, she is a woman now in her twenties. She has already been in quite a few films that are far away from Disney: Friday The 13th remake, The Crazies remake, The Ward and Mr. Brooks. As far as I can see, some previous Disney children have done much more in the 'sexual' department.

But I've never watched Disney/Lifetime things.

One of the girls was Kelly Brook and don't believe she has ever done porn films.

I never said there was a problem. I just never pegged her as a type in that kind of role.

Ashdoc's review ( just for entertainment , not to be taken seriously )

Wanna see some really really booby babes flash the glory of their big boobs in 3D ??

Wanna see a half naked girl come running closer and closer to you till her boobs hang partly out of her bikini top close to your face due to 3D effects ??

Wanna see dozens and dozens of half naked bodies warm out in the sun or bob up and down in water ??.....and want them to be carefully chosen so that they are the best of the mouthwateringly best bodies ??

Wanna see a about-to-die piranha take its exceedingly long dying gasps between the oh-so-invitingly spread legs of a lovely girl perilously close to her center ??.....in fact so close to her center that when it opens its mouth it appears all ready to gobble her delicious vitals.....

And then do you wanna see the same girl spread her legs again in a bath-tub only to dream of a piranha again lunging for her center ??......and do you want this scene to be interrupted by the interval so that for a few minutes you are hoping to see the piranha lunging for her center after the interval ; only to be shown later that the whole scene was a nightmare ??

And do you want to see a girl tell doctors that the reason her boyfriend got hurt was that while having sex a baby piranha jumped out of her pussy and bit her boyfriend's organ ??.....no no you naughty that scene is only described by the girl and the baby piranha is not actually shown coming out of the pussy to bite the organ
......After all its not a porno film.....

After all this what else do you want ?? the story ??

Well ,the story consists of ancient piranhas coming back after being long extinct and infesting a lake . They attack and literally tear to pieces anybody daring to come into the lake . As if this is not enough to cause trouble a stupid guy out to make an easy profit pumps water from the lake to a swimming pool......more blood , more screaming half naked girls , more saving to be done......

Who cares ?? The girls are good , the piranhas seems almost lusty for female flesh ( in my last birth I was a piranha ) and there's a lot of fun.....

There's also David Hasselhoff of Baywatch fame to waste himself by showing his drooping shoulders and sagging muscles trying to save some hot chicks.....

What more do you need---except to cancel out David Hasselhoff the worlds most famous lifeguard from the film ( he must be really out of work to accept such a inconsequental role ) ?

Verdict---Go watch and have some frivolous fun.....
