Major League

Major League touches close to home, I'm for the Cleveland area of Ohio, so, I can relate to the irony presented in this movie. I can apprecite loving a team that is completely horrible in hopes of having the excellent season that will never come.

The movie techincally stars Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen and Corbin Bernsen. I personally feel that Wesley Snipes had a better roll than Corbin Bernsen. Charlie Sheen's characeter is a timeless classic, everytime I think about this movie I think of the guys in the bleachers singing the Wild Thing song with specific pokes delivered to the character.

The direction is very classical, the movie needs nothing more than this. There is no real creative detail needed to deliver the story line. It's a movie about a sports team that sucks and how they have overcome the odds to make something of themselves. Over all I would rate it 3/5.

This is my first review ever, so any experienced reviewers, please give me a hand at getting better.

For tomorrow: Planet Terror.

I saw part of that movie on TV and it didn't seem very interesting. Planet Terror is pretty cool though.

Planet Terror

First off, let me say that I really enjoy this movie no matter how many times that I see it. Robert Rodriguez really hits a homerun with the interesting and over-the-top story of Planet Terror. The baseline is a lot like Resident Evil except less believable and more artistically done. Mankind creates a zombifying virus, virus gets into the wrong hands and eventually turns most of humanity into mindless flesheating zombies.

The characters of Planet Terror are somewhat dynamic. The only character that I find to be unintersting is Wray (Freddy Rodriguez). He's a man with a mysterious past, knows a lot about killing the undead, blah, blah, blah. I think my favorite character was J.T. the restaurant owner. For having a small part in the movie, his character was solid, funny, and quick-witted.

My only gripe about the movie was that the opening credits seemed to take forever to get out of the way. Yes, Rose McGowan is gorgeous in a short skirt and dancing, but they still failed to captivate me. It was the same thing for what seemed like an eternity. I think that the music is what made them suck.

Planet Terror: 4/5

For tomorrow: Hot Shots!

Hot Shots!

My review today is going to be brief. I'm coming down with a wicked chest cold/infection of some sorts and feel a little like death. So without further prolonging.

Hot Shots! stars Charlie Sheen, Carey Elwes and Valeria Golino with a pantstastic supporting role from Lloyd Bridges. To sum this up as fast as I can, it's a great parody of Top Gun. Classic spoof movie and one of my favorites of all time.

Hot Shots!: 4/5

(post script: Sorry this one is so damn short but I just wanted to get it done. Maybe I'll re-review it when I feel up to it.)

For tomorrow: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

Spoof's are no where near this quality any more, I love this film it is fantastic. It get's me in fit's of laughter even now, the charectors are funny as hell and this would blow any recent spoof tat out of the water. Line it up against most recent comedy's and this would win time and time again love it!

Filthy hands dude hope you get well soon and keep up the good reviews man!

Army of Darkness

I know that I said that I was going to review Etenal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind yesterday, but, I didn't. Hate me if you want.

I'm still under the weather, so it's going to be a short synopsis that will be re-reviewed in greater depth when I feel better.

Army of Darkness stars Bruce Campbell as Ash a Superstore employee trapped in time in the 1300's. His girlfriend Shela (Elizabeth Davidtz) is pulled through time with him.

This movie is fantastic for how far-fetched it is. The story is so far fetched and ridiculous that it is an instant classic. The special effects are nothing great and the horror side isn't even that scary just incredible!

Overall, Army of Darkness is a horror masterpiece and that's all. It is one of my favorite movies of all time and will never lose it's spot in my heart.

Army of Darkness: 4.5/5

For tomorrow: Bubba Ho-Tep

Bubba Ho-Tep

Still sick, still writing short reviews.

I'm on a small Bruce Campbell kick right now. I think that I'm going to watch Evil Dead next. I enjoy this movie not for how far fetched it is, but for how you can look at the characters in two lights. I know that it's a small angle but, I think that it is what makes the movie for me. Yes, you can take it the Bruce Campbell is Elvis and Ossie Davis is JFK. Or you can take the other angle and see them as the nursing home attendents see them as two old senile men who think that they are people that they are not. A perfect example in the movie is Kemosabi, the old man who thinks that he is a cowboy in the old west. He is a man living in his own world.

Outside of that, the movie is very solid. I mean, who dosen't love a story involving a mummy that eats people's souls from their ********? The story is very strange and it's what makes the movie. The direction is very solid as well. I enjoyed the use of editing in the beginning showing Bruce Campbell's day sped up. That was a little creepy also.

Bubba Ho-Tep: 3.5/5

For tomorrow/tonight: ??? I'm going to see what my girlfriend wants to watch.
