He was trashing the movie and the director when he was doing press for that movie. Why? He just didn't like the movie and didn't enjoy his experience, obviously. But when one is doing press for a movie, one tends to talk up the movie rather than trash it.

And while I'm sure Chevy still gets scripts, I am also sure he doesn't get as many scripts as he would if he were less of a jerk.
