wow. thanks for being um....nice. Everyone is so ready to "Put me in my place", it's scary. At least the responses to my script have been ok.

And if this is all about opinions, why do mine get dissed because they're different? This little awards post was just supposed to be a few of my favorite scenes and moments, and maybe a few of yours too. And the only reason it became an all out blast athon against me is because TWT said that no-one would have picked the same nominees as me. Thanks sir. Thanks for being another film conformist that will fight to the death to prove that the beach sucked, And the Godfather was great. Well in my opinion it's exactly the opposite. And therefore My opinion, is the wrong. You wont come out and just say it, but that’s what you're thinking. And you present it in a round about way of making fun of my favorites, and rolling your eyes .

And if that's the way it is, fine. I don't want to win. I'm not on a mission to cut you down. Infact my first reply to someone's listings was "It's cool to see you have your own nominations". And then all hell broke loose.

And to clarify. Yes I do think Behind enemy lines and MI:2 are worthy of awards. Not Oscars mind you. Just recognition( if only from me) for being kick *** action movies. And the nomination was for "best dramatic removal of a mask". Not "Best fu*king movie of all time".

How many deniro movies have I seen? Let's see. I own Meet the Parents, A bronx tale, and Ronin, and I've seen All Godfathers, Taxi Driver, Men of Honor, Heat, Raging bull, Casino, Goodfellas, Wag the dog, 15 minutes, and the score. And in how many of those did he play a tough mobster type? Listen, I like deniro, just don't love him. He seems to always play the same guy. Which he does nicely. He's just not the best, nor anywhere near, in my opinion. Al pacino on the other hand is great. though not as commended as deniro. What about my favs? Do you guys hate Nicholson, Oldman, Hanks? Ok maybe you hate Hanks, but lets give respect to the other two.

How do I find those action scenes "nullifying"? Easy, they just bore me. I like a different kind of action scene. That's all, get down on me all you like, my tastes will not change.
And yes, I am saying that Saving Private Ryan is a better movie than Dr. Strangelove, Lawrence of Arabia, or Chinatown. I've seen them. And ya know what? I hate them. They just are not my cup of tea! So I'm not going to choke them down, and present a fake smile just to be with the in crowd of film conisuers.
I am going to request that you all get of my back a bit. Like I said: I'm not out too win, or to beat you. But you seem to be hell bent on destroying and reforming me.

By the way here are my top ten Favorite films
1: The Shawshank Redemption.
2: Fight Club.
3: As Good as it Gets.
4: Contact.
5: The field of Dreams.
6: Cast Away.
7: The shining.
8: Saving Private Ryan.
9: American Beauty
10: Jerry Maguire.

And my most hated
1: B.A.Ps
2: Battle field earth
3: Magnolia
4: Charlie's Angels
5: Pearl Harbor
6: Planet of the apes 2001
7: Ninja terminator(don't ask)
8: The brothers McMullen
yes I know I know, There are much worse. No need to rant.

You'll recognize that most of these are more recent films. And forgive me but fu*k the "classics" I love Indiana Jones, I hate the God Father, that's my range on "the classics" On directors I love Kubrick , and Hate Bay. And on recent film, I thought Behind enemy lines was very cool, and thought LOTR was very well done but a bit long.

There that's me on movies. And BTW I would consider myself a film buff. Maybe not the sort of buff that thinks Magnolia, or Dr Strange Love were masterpieces, And Not the sort of Buff that thinks the beach, And An American werewolf in Paris were total crap. I've seen a whole ******* lot of em. I own about 200 or so. I've written scripts (Good and bad). And can hold a conversation about movies with anyone. And for someone who is 16, that is not too shabby. So that's all I have to say.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! FIRE AT WILL!

I'm a big action fan myself but I thought MI:2 was just "ok" and in some scene just awful all around I guess I just expected something more for the director that made Hard Boiled and The Killer but that's just me like you said it your cup of tea not mine.

I'm just wondering what did you think of the first Mission Impossible??

Nothing wrong with that list...especially if they are in no particular order. If they ARE in order, Contact above American Beauty? Anyhoo...nice list. I think those are all great films.

where's the reply from TWT?

I was with family for the day. Patience is a virture.

Here's my simple reply (I'm not going to waste time on this): don't tell me what I'm thinking. You were way off. The only thing I was thinking (and I'm being dead-honest with you here) was that a thread like this is a bad idea, because few people will be able to fully express their thoughts and opinions if they're going by YOUR nominations. I dunno where all this film conformist nonsense came from, either. I guess you imagined most of it. I didn't like "The Beach." I enjoy "The Godfather," but do not worship it. It has problems like any other film. It's not on my top ten list of most enjoyable movies. I'm no conformist. I like what I like, period. You're reading far too much into the very little I've written.

Why did I jump on you? Well, right off the bat, I felt you were a little rude...and this after you entered a fake email into your profile. You rubbed me the wrong way...so I replied in kind. I have no personal grudge against you.

is this sarcasm? those 3 are considered among the finest films ever

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
I'm having a blast just watching you guys duke it out. This is better than renting a movie.

I don't give a ****.

Hmmm, tyler, I would be careful buddy. Don't get these guys steamed when it comes to good movies versus bad movies.

Just a word of advice.

By who's perspective are these films good or bad? Ad I really don't care if they get steamed just because I don't like their classics. I find it quite funny that with a simple post from "tyler" the whole subject of the post is lost.

I don't know how old these guys are, but they are really into classics, and probably films of their time. ( I love Butch Casedy and The Sundance Kid, if that's a classic!) I can't connect with **** form "Dr Strange love" It's the same when I listen to the beetles or Led Zeppelin. Fu*k em they suck. I don't want to live in a yellow submarine. And I don't want to glorify citizen cane. I will see movies, and I’ll like some, and some I won’t.
Every once in a while I find an old song or movie that I really like, but it's rare.

And in response to Mr. Jeffries. I liked Mission Impossible 1. It was a very cool movie. Just not the action extravaganza it was made out to be by it’s trailer. By the way, what does everyone find so great about Hard Boiled, and the killer? All I see is ten million slow motion shot of guys getting shot. That and bad music. I really am at a loss when it comes to people’s taste in action. I think we need more techno, kung-fu, and flipping to dodge bullets. Ya know, totally un realistic, and flashy as hell. Like blade, and the matrix, and the new john woo films. Face off, MI:2 ect.
“The replacement killers” was cool. But the old John Woo movies are just….(WARNING ONLY OPINION)lame Mr.Jeffries, do you like kung-fu movies? Best in my opinion were “Fist of Legend”, “Rumble in the Bronx” “The Chinese connection” and “Drunken Master”.

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
You have to remember though, tyler. This isn't the greatest movie of 2000 or even the last 10 years. It doesn't specify a year. Holden, and L.B. know the classics very well, and will use them when they can. In fact, even though I haven't seen too many of the older movies, I can tell you right now, a lot of the older movies are greater than those produced today.

tyler -

I'm not dissing you for your opinions, but for how you're just saying all these things, without backing them up with anything. Tell me WHY those action scenes bored you. WHY is Saving Private Ryan a great movie, and The Godfather is not? I'm glad you have your own opinions and all, don't get me wrong, but you're not explaining yourself.

And, Travis Bickle is the same character as Jake LaMotta? Please. Again, will you explain WHY you think this?

Tyler I love Kung-fu movies haven't seen tons of them but I do enjoy them Drunken Master part II has one of the best fight scene of all time , I also dig Once Upon a Time in China another one is Iron Monkey part II with the bamboo stick fight scene at the end that was some serious crazy @ss stuff.

for the most part I usually watch Jackie Chan in this area for kung-fu and great stunts a great one is Armor of the gods the movie is not that great but the last 20 mins or so will blow almost any Hollywood action movie out of the water in my opinion.

have you heard of a movie called The Streetfighter
starting Sonny Chiba I posted it in the reviews check it out if you like Drunken Master than I think you will definalty dig this one , and no it's not the Van Damme one it's a 70's Kung-Fu movie with massive grotesque violence.

Spudracer- like I said, they identify with the "classics" and I in many cases, do not. And you may think that the older movies are better than today's but movies always sucked, and were always great. Each decade had it's greats and not so greats. In your opinion, the better movies come from long ago. And I simply disagree. No big deal. Just a little dissension.

Steve- I actually backed myself up quite well in that essay a few posts back. READ IT. And Saving Private Ryan is a great movie because it's acting is great. It develops all of the characters nicely, so that you really care when they die. The cinematography is simply superb. (It's been imitated by a few films.) The casting is right. The dialogue is good. The plot progression makes it very watch able. It accurately depicted war in all it's chaos. And it's been acclaimed by many to be one of the best, if not the best war film of all time. But all that don't mean $hit because it's a moderately recent release. I respect full metal jacket, platoon, and Apocalypse now, but this is simply better. And far better than that poetic flop "the thin red line" (Better book than movie) And the Godfather IS a good movie. Just not that great in my opinion. It's long, boring, and a might stupid at parts. Just not my type of movie. Now why is it Steve that because I don't have the same love of these "masterpieces" that I have to explain why. They didn’t have to explain why they liked them so much. Fu*K it. I don't mind being the odd man out, as long as I'm my own man.

And finally Mr. Jeffries- I'll have to check some of those out. They sound cool. Make sure you check out Fist of Legend (If you haven't already.) BTW who would win in a real life fight Jackie Chan or Jet Li? Hey that sounds like a post!

I ain't gettin' in no fryer!
I don't think all greats came from way back when. Some did, some didn't. There are movies from then I probably would hate, same goes for things in today's world.

Just gotta open it up a little wider and fit everyone in.
