MNS and Hitchcock film parallels

Tools

Hitchcock, being one of MNS's greatest inspirations, has several parallel methods and techniques throughout his films.

List all you can think of!

I'll list one small one that is freshest on my mind:

In North by Northwest, towards the end, Roger Thornhill is seen in the reflection of the television by the woman at the rushmore lodge.

In Signs, after the invasion, the alien is seen in the living room waiting for them in the reflection of the television.

The obvious one is the cameos. The time they see him get in his truck in SIGNS was quite Hitch.

Direct parallels are harder to find, but stylistically, they have a lot of similarities. Both seem to have an understanding that fear is as much about what you don't see as what you do.

What's an example of a McGuffin MNS has used?

Camera perspectives. For example, in Signs, the scene with the alien in the cupboard is a classic Hitchcock style scene. Loved it. The perspective, no music, the ability to let the scene breath and stretch. Just amazing.
