I would say Reservoir Dogs, I just never thought it was a mob film...but, now that I think about it, it kind of is.

1. GoodFellas (1990 - Scorsese)
"When they found Carbone in the meat truck, it took two days to defrost him for the autopsy."
2. The Godfather Part II (1974 - Coppola)
"I know it was you, Fredo. You broke my heart."
3. The Godfather (1972 - Coppola)
"It's a Sicilian message. It means Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes."
4. Once Upon A Time in America (1985 - Sergio Leone)
"I like the stink of the streets. It cleans out my lungs."
5. Donnie Brasco (1997 - Mike Newell)
"Fuggetaboudit. Sometimes it just means forget about it."
6. Mean Streets (1973 - Scorsese)
"You don't make up for your sins in church. You do it in the streets. You do it at home.
The rest is bullsh!t, and you know it."

7. White Heat (1949 - Raoul Walsh)
"Stuffy, huh? I'll give it some air."
8. Casino (1995 - Scorsese)
"A lot of holes in the desert, and a lot of problems are buried in those holes."
9. Bugsy (1991 - Barry Levinson)
"I don't understand this desert thing of yours, Ben. What are we, Bedouins?"
10. Carlito's Way (1993 - Brian DePalma)
"You think you're big time?!? You gonna die big time!"

The title that you have in your post, Holden Pike ["As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster." ] was a sentence that I used to tell myself when I was in my teen years. When I saw the Godfather movies and Scarface, I sometimes felt like I was some kind of gangster. Must have been because I acted like one. The mob movies sometimes crosses your mind and you started doing what you see in the films. I' am a big mob fan.

THE LONG GOOD FRIDAY

GET CARTER

THE FIRM*

*we're not talking the Tom Cruise no hoper here but the football mob tele-film directed by Alan Clarke, he of MADE IN BRITAN fame and featuring Gary Oldman in his finest role to date IMHO (his Dreczel - sp? - coming a close second)...

Guess ima have to rent it...

Mob films are my favorite of all times, they just don't make enough of them, one that I loved was Valentines day Massacre, and the King of all movies is the Godfather I doubt they will ever make another masterpiece like the Godfather. There are a lot of Italian films made in Italy containing Mafia films, it doesn't look like they bother exporting those films. I love the Sopranos I'm addicted to that.
