Rome 2005 - 2007 TV series is really great IMO.

Caligula (1979)

Kingdom of Heaven (2005)

The Passion of the Christ (2004)

Any of the Robin Hood movies I think would technically fit in that category.

Since when Robin Hood movies have anything to do with Byzantine Empire?! Not to mention the other movies you listed...

These movies are jumbling eras. Byzantine Empire is the late Roman era and a lot of these movies are set too early to qualify.

Actually, I think Robin Hood is actually in that period, but not directly about it.

Alexander the Great Byzantine????

Since the OP's examples are not accurate either, what he is actually looking for is confusing.

Here's a good list of movies from during that time period, I was way off with some of my first suggestions, especially The Passion of the Christ.

But he wanted to know some movies about or set in Byzantine Empire. I guess that the period itself is not sufficient.

The Byzantine Empire time period is during most of the Roman empire
Roman Empire collapsed in 476 AD.Byzantine Empire collapsed in 15th century.

Op's examples of movies he is looking for are not Byzantine either.

Gladiator is too early.

Alexander the Great isn't even Roman

If he's looking for medieval then I'd recommend:

Chimes at Midnight

Marketa Lazarova

The Seventh Seal

The Saragossa Manuscript

Andrei Rublev

El Cid

Movies about the Middle Ages and before that are rare.

They are not Byzantine, indeed, but I think that he listed these movies as a type of movies he's looking for put in Byzantine Empire. Both Alexander and Gladiator are epic movies and I guess that it is what he was looking for - looking for an epic movie portraying Byzantine Empire, of which epicness brings to mind films like Gladiator.

1453.
thank you for information

Also,I remember one foreign movie about Byzantine Empire but I can't recall the title,I found it some users' IMDB list,if I find it,I'll post it here.

Hi will.15 As Mr Minio said, the comparison isn't about the period but about the fact that these two movies are epic.

Thank you my friends
