Nudity In Movies?

Tools

My life isn't written very well.
OK, we have all been asked, or have asked this question: "Why do movies seem to admire the female form over the male one?"

In short, why do most movies that contain nudity only show female breasts (a turn-on?) and not the male organ?

OK guys, I know your answer. But most women I talk to say that they would like more movies to show their favorite male actors in the nude; their sick of seeing Hollywood actresses bare all, but male ones clothed.

Another question ladies (and a few men here): Which male actor would you like to see exposed?

And to make it fair for the gentlemen: Which female actor would you like to see bare all?

I believe it's because women can show nudity just by exposing her breasts; a man cannot show nudity without exposing his actual genitalia, which is obviously a bigger deal. Granted, you still see more women completely nude than men, but I think this is because a) most of their genitalia is still, uh, partially obscured, if you catch my drift and b) for the obvious reason that men are very interested in sex.

The male equivalent of topless is, well, topless. And you see plenty of shirtless men in mainstream films. Actual sexual organs, however, are a bigger exposure, and they're more or less the only thing a man can expose. Women have more nudity options, in other words.

Great way of putting it. lol

Also, not EVERY movie has one full frontally or even topless naked woman in it, so I don't get why people are always saying there's too much nudity in movies. Sometimes a movie only has a naked man in it showing off his bare butt - and that's fine by me. This topic of not enough male nudity in movies has been appearing on my MSN news page a lot, so I'm assuming that's where Reporter got it. Basically, what they're complaining about is the lack of male genitalia - penis and testicles, to be precise. Where are they? Well, we know they're there, just covered up. Often, you're able to spy a bulge in a male actor's pants if you're looking hard for them. So, women and men want to see more of them exposed bare on the silver screen? Well, the problem isn't the movies, it's their hormones! CALM DOWN. Get a jock strap and wipe the sweat off your face. Gals, give me a break. You've got a show called Girls Behaving Badly on TV where they pull down the pants of men, and they CENSOR all the nudity. At least put a show like that on HBO, women. Women, you're the problem that there isn't enough male nudity in movies in the first place! You agree to take off all of your clothes so the men won't have to. You give men all of the power. You get BREAST IMPLANTS. You make everything you do SEXUAL. You try to break all of the sexual boundaries. Yeah, I'm talking to you Madonna, Britney Spears, and Janet Jackson.

AND SPEAKING OF JANET JACKSON... Janet, you're just set back the male nudity in movies movement by fourty years. Now there's going to be more female nudity than ever! She let Justin rip off one of her boob containers... now why couldn't it have been the other way around? Why couldn't Janet have been bossier and been like, "Justin, NO. I will not let you expose my right breast because I'm going to be in big trouble for it. I won't be able to go to the Grammys and you will and YOU will get an award. I won't be able to perform. Now, we're gonna do it MY WAY. I want you to wear this dominatrix suit in your size with a pouch for your balls to fit in. At the end of the song, I'm going to take your right testicle out of it. It will cause an OUTRAGE... and all of American will search for a picture of it. Let's show America what the Super Bowl is all about... THE TESTOSTERONE FACTORY!!!"

Didn't see it.
The reason there are more nude females in movies than nude males in movies is because the nudity is targeted at men, not women.

Men and women are wired differently. Foreplay for your wife is to take the trash out in the morning without being asked. Then you call during the day to see how she is doing. Then you give her a kiss when you get home from work and take the children upstairs for their baths. After dinner you wash the dishes. Foreplay lasts all day long for a woman.

Men on the other hand, are a little different. All the wife has to do to get her husband interested in sex is take off her shirt. Men are excited first by what we see. This is why the spam email you get has scantily clad women, not men in it. It is why 95% of pornography is aimed at men, not women. It’s why the Miller Light commercial has two women wresting in their underwear, not two men.

If a bunch of nude men in movies would sell more tickets and DVDs, you can bet the movies would be full of them. A nude woman will get a lot of boys and men to go see a movie. A nude man will not do the same thing for girls and women.

Whenever I want men to understand about some type of mental illness, I have learnt over the years that the majority of them don't read pamphlets, if I give them a video about it they watch it. Yes they are more visually orientated than woman.

I was about to get offended by what you said, but I got bored and quit reading it. You're damn lucky, Neb...aw, screw it.

Me too, sorry

I am having a nervous breakdance
The reason to why we see more completely naked ladies compared to naked guys on the screen is probably more simple than we think. According to an interview with Larry Clark that I read some time ago the MPPA (Motion Picture Association of America) apparently takes more lightly on female frontal nudity than male frontal nudity. The reason to why they do this we can only speculate on, but as someone said here, it has probably something to do with that the male organ is a bit harder to ..eh.. conceal. So a movie containing images of dicks runs a much higher risk of not receiving the desirable ratings than a movie containing images of complette female nudity. I think I also read that Clark did Ken Park (partly) as some kind of statement against the american censorship.

And speaking of Janet... I hope I am not offending anyone here but.. This business with her boob. Which american ranging from ages 1-100 did not watch the Superbowl? What do they think they will accomplish with blurring up the boob afterhandedly?? Do they think that if they show the clip with the blurred boob enough times the kids will think "Nah, the first time was probably just an illusion.. This is what a breast really looks like...". Is there anything at all that America is more afraid of than the naked body? At the same time, just as I can't believe the proportions this thing has taken, I just doesn't get why Janet Jackson and that brat chose to pull this stunt on the Superbowl. What were they trying to say?? I would completely have understood it if they did it for example on some MTV award show. Except for the enormous impact it had thanks to the viewer ratings I think that if they wanted to prove something they picked the wrong occasion. And why the hell was she apologizing??? Hypocrites!!!

Do we care

Here is my take on Nudity in movies: Women are beautiful, they are pleasing to look at and men are admittidley.....peverts. Women are even more peverted than men, the difference however is that they tend to be more humble and secretive. Women like to see men naked but they will never admit it, to men anyway. When they are having one of those pow-wows in the "powder room" they talk about everything from a man's penis size to how well a man kisses. They may even talk abot how pretty another woman looks or how slutty she is. When a woman talks about sex she can out do any man I know. Of course this is just my theory. Men and women are alot more alike than some may think, men are just more crass about it. So when it comes to nudity in movies women like it just as much as men, but they will never admit it.

I think it’s really very simple… There are more naked women in movies because Hollywood is still almost exclusively run by men and movies are targeted at men…

Wow… so that’s what they talk about in there… guess I need to hang around a little more and see what really is going on…

It takes so many years to get out of the prude censorship, to a time when women would say, "The body is beautiful" or "If using my body gets me a better job, so be it, more power to me and all women" and there's also some that think it's degradation. Of course, they are not in the movie, or any movie, but they know mentioning it gets them views/money, and the lawyers are involved, and there's pressure maybe to not show skin (especially now when everyone knows their audiences), but there's also some directors who might not have any plans to show breasts, but changes their mind.. Maybe the producer is pressuring the director about how much they spent, and how showing some boobs will increase viewership, using it as a tag-line... When I was a teen, I remember people going to see movies ONLY because of nudity. "Halle Berry shows her boobs in 'Swordfish'" (I didn't see it, but I could always see a clip if I was THAT interested).

Once the Hays Code was lifted, nudity wasn't just used for the hell of it in good movies. I would hope we could self-censor, because I find most of them corny. Not the nudity, but the silly scene itself. Be real, or be creative with a scene in "Ryan's Daughter", or not, but it seems there's so many groups who might not care, but know it's the currency of the moment, and "sex sells".

If there's a man and woman kissing, and the picture dissolves, I know what's going to happen next, and it might be best to move to the next scene, but again, there should be more than 2 approaches - artistic vs. exploitation.

What really bugs me is when people I know will make a comment on a movie in retrospect, when they said the opposite a few years ago, but they know it doesn't pay, and that's what bugs me... People are being fooled, and everything becomes so personalized, that so many I talk with are becoming echoes. "Yeah, Trump said exactly the same sentence word for word" but that in of itself becomes a way to dismiss something with the guilt of association.
