The Sadist, Arch Hall.

This 60's movie makes Hitchcock seem mild in comparison. Arch Hall Jr.'s portrayal of a sadistic killer is stunningly accurate. Having personally met real psychopathic prisoners, director Landis makes no compromises to convention and Hall plays the part to a tee.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Arch Hall Jr. is a lot more animated than his usual wooden self, and Vilmos Zsigmond was creative with his cinematography as he was in shooting The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies!!?. It's shown periodically on TCM, but it's never quite struck me as that successful. It's worth a peak though.
