I can't include boxing as a sport so i can't name the films associated. There aren't that many good sports movies but the one that i didn't see in anyone's list is cool running. I enjoyed this movie
Sports Movies
My favorite sports movie is Tin Cup, one of the most underrated movies ever imo.
Others I love:
Love & Basketball
Happy Gilmore
Rocky I-III
Field of Dreams
The Natural
Fever Pitch (1997)
Rudy
Shaolin Soccer
The Karate Kid

I don't really like sports movies. I agree with Yoda's mum about the tension being kind of fake. I don't know why.
I quite enjoyed Mike Bassett: England Manager, but more for the comedy than the 'will they win?' aspects.
Best moment: Old fashioned manager Mike has written the names of the players he wants on the back of a cigarette packet and told his assistant to round up the squad. Two players, Hedges and Benson, turn up that he isn't expecting and he has a go at his assistant, waving his cigarette packet at him and saying "You tell me where it says Benson and Hedges on here!" Genius.

Great Thread!! Alot of excellent movies mentioned throughout, I just want to add INVINCIBLE to the mix. I've watched it about 6 times in the last 10 days or so. Can't get over how great the ending is!!

I have to add The Sandlot, which is perhaps one of the greatest live action kids films. ("You play ball like a girl!")

I agree with a lot of the movies already mentioned. Funny sport movies are awesome such as Happy Gilmore and The Waterboy, Necessary Roughness and The Longest Yard. And then there is the regular action like The Rocky's especially Rocky 4. And then there is Million Dollar Baby, which I think would have heavy impact as far as boxing movies is concerned.
