Las Vegas movies

One From the Heart (1982) Francis Ford Coppola
This appears to be a movie at least partially set in Las Vegas, the poster shows casinos on it. A musical, a romance. Doesn't sound like my sort of thing but I will watch it sooner or later to see what its all about.

It is rather famously filmed on a very large, very expensive, purposefully artificial looking set. Lots of neon. Zero real locations. A financial disaster of epic magnitude.

I'm just responding real quick to this thread without having read through the whole thing... I've got to sign off soon, BUT...

one recent film where I love with what they did with Las Vegas is Blade Runner 2049... a film that honestly rivals and one could make the case is better than the original. Anyway, I love the vision of those scenes that hit about 2/3 of the way into the film and when K (Joe) goes there looking for Deckard.

Casino Royale (2006) of course has gambling in it although doesn't take place in Las Vegas. Including a deadly high stakes $150,000,000.00 poker game that takes up nearly half the movie. The least actionable Bond movie in memory.

Forced Vengeance (1982) has a small time family run casino central to the plot, shows Chuck Norris debt collecting for the casino and plenty of mob fighting but gambling isn't featured, no close ups of the goings-on of any particular table or its players. So, gambling, in general.

Con Air (1997) Very good movie, one of my favorites growing up and still holds up well 20+ years later. The end of this movie takes place in Las Vegas and shows some nice shots of the strip both on the ground and in the air. Close-ups of casinos, classic Vegas locations. Great story and plenty of action.

Aces and Eights (1936) This western starts in Nevada and finishes in California and features several gambling scenes. After the obnoxious opening score the rest of the movie is without music and has a nice quiet tone througout. A good break from being continuously sauted in soundtrack noise and special effects. Mediocre but solid story, I like how it plays out and the end ties together well. A good "nick at nite" sort of flick to see at 2am, doesn't jump your bones or jerk you around.

The Amazing Mr. X (1948) mentions Las Vegas a number of times but no part of the movie takes place there. Featuring a scene of magician tricks but no gambling at all.
