Carol (2015) by Todd Haynes, starring Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara

The reviews for this film after its Cannes premiere are amazing so far. I'm pretty excited because it stars two of my favorite contemporary actresses and because I love the time period it is set in.

I quite liked Todd Haynes' other 1950s drama, Far From Heaven (which also stars one of my favorite actresses with Julianne Moore), but then again, I didn't love it either, because I thought it wasn't quite subtle enough to always be truly effective. If I can believe the reviews I've read, it's different with this one.

There have been released a few clips already as well (they're scenes, not trailers):

Love the book and been waiting for this film for ages since I heard they were going to adapt it and was very happy about the casting of Blanchett! looks fantastic from what I've seen but still waiting for a full trailer, taking their time.

I watched Carol recently and I'm quite surprised not to see a lot of discussion about it .
