Mads Mikkelsen

Dig the guy, but I'm not sure what to feel about all this blockbuster-bunk. I prefer him in more modest outputs.

Want to know where Mads truly belongs? Grab yourself a beverage and see Adam's Apples.

The Hunt is a brilliant film

Anybody seen 'Valhalla Rising'? It's on my list but I never got round to it.
If you like Refn's work it's brilliant. If you dont like his work, it will drag on and on with occasional payoffs of grizzly violence. I loved it but it's very long. Mads is great and so is his young offsider.

I love Refn's work, especially The Neon Demon. But I haven't seen the Pusher trilogy to my shame.

Valhalla Rising is only 93 minutes long. I plan to watch it soon, I have high hopes. I also need to see that documentary on Refn but can't locate a copy

It feels much longer than 93 minutes, but so does a lot of his work. Neon Demon I didn't like so much but loved Drive. Nothing happens. Even Gosling just stares and stares. Then BOOM you get the big payoff halfway through and I felt so bad at how happy I was that something finally happened that I laughed at my own reaction. Phenomenal acting from the leads in that I thought.

I havent seen Pusher 3 but loved the first two.

his best role was in casino royale definitely menacing in that role he was, a perfect cast i would nt think anyone would have done that role other than him

This might just do nobody any good.
I've been hearing Refn wants Mads for The Avenging Silence, Refn's next movie about a spy out to kill a Yakuza boss.

That's one of the most metal things I've ever heard of.

Menacing, yet when you get the reveal he's sympathetic. Mads does that so well.

Ooh. Me little ears have pricked up at this news.

Mads Mikkelsen is a terrific actor and I'm a big fan of his. Someone needs to offer him better acting gigs instead of sporadic roles in summer blockbusters like Star Wars and Doctor Strange.

He was excellent in After the Wedding and Jagten. Not to mention his performance in Hannibal, which was in my honest opinion on par with Anthony Hopkins, if not better.

Since you are new here, @Dani8, and probably haven't checked out my profile info... I'm from Denmark, so I'm very happy to see you taking a liking to Danish cinema and of course the great Mads Mikkelsen.

I'll definitely say check out Adam's Apples - it's the best of Mads and the best of Danish cinema. Well, at least it's a good showcase of our dark, twisted, ironic, sarcastic humour.

I didn't realise you were a viking, MM. Wooooo. Never met a Dane I didn't like.

I've been meaning to see Adam's Apples. Have you seen Men and Chicken?

You know, Mads once said that if his portrayal of Hannibal made people curious enough to check Danish cinema his job was done. My eldest brother hasn't seen Hannibal yet but he's obsessed with Danish cinema and has been for ages.

That's awesome!

Yes, I've seen Mćnd & Hřns, I quite liked it. Though I think it was more intellectually stimulating and thematically expressive than it was outright hilarious. I found the movie more fun to study than to watch as pure entertainment. Nevertheless, I liked it. You seen Flickering Lights then? And The Green Butchers??

I knew there was a reason I liked you, mistique. Must be the viking in my veins. Why is it that I have Danish heritage, albeit way back, and I'm a short ass!

Flickering Lights and Green Butchers are also on my list. Might need another Madly binge.

lol, where do you live?
Far far away from Madly Mads, and I'm not sure he's ever been here but I do have a signed poster from the hannibal promo shoots, and I'm sure it says i love you, Dani.

lol. I do have a personalised poster on my wall but he doesnt say that. His heart belongs to the beautiful Hanne.

I'm in Australia, mistique.

I want to see Flame and citron again. I don't think 4 times in a weekend was enough. Such a great movie.

I liked that too. I must have been about four or five episodes into series 3 of The Bridge before I remembered where I'd seen Thure Lindhardt before .
