Very impressive! I really enjoyed the visuals and sound. The meaning behind it all is a bit over my head, but Ito manages to keep the intensity and energy going for a full 8 minutes and never feels repetitive. Excellent short film.
I got Captain Terror hooked on his films some time ago. I'm a huge fan of his style.

#5
The Burden (2017, Niki Lindroth von Bahr)

Another amazing short I've never seen before! Thank you!

#4
The House Is Black (1963, Forugh Farrokhzad)

I'm out. I'm too squeamish. 😬

#3
Meshes of the Afternoon (1943, Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid)

YAY! My personal favorite!

I still can't believe this was made in 1943. There's so much here that would fit right in with 60's and 70's experimental films.

A surreal, cyclical dreamworld, of a person trapped in a monotonous existence, desperately seeking escape.

I imagine this choice may raise some eyebrows, but this genuinely is my #1. I'll be happy to share some thoughts on it if anyone's curious.

Thank you so much for sharing all of these! There were so many is never heard of and really enjoyed.
