Now With Moveable Parts
I have a new found love for this song, since the movie of course.

When I was a kid Uncle Remus he put me to bed
With a picture of Stonewall Jackson above my head
Then daddy came in to kiss his little man
With gin on his breath and a Bible in his hand
He talked about honor and things I should know
Then he’d stagger a little as he went out the door

CHORUS:
I can still hear the soft Southern winds in the live oak trees
And those Williams boys they still mean a lot to me
Hank and Tennessee
I guess we’re all gonna be what we’re gonna be
So what do you do with good ole boys like me

Nothing makes a sound in the night like the wind does
But you ain’t afraid if you’re washed in the blood like I was
The smell of cape jasmine thru the window screen
John R. and the Wolfman kept me company
By the light of the radio by my bed
With Thomas Wolfe whispering in my head

When I was in school I ran with kid down the street
But I watched him burn himself up on bourbon and speed
But I was smarter than most and I could choose
Learned to talk like the man on the six o’clock news
When I was eighteen, Lord, I hit the road
But it really doesn’t matter how far I go

Best song out there, as of now at least

Again I go Unnoticed by Dashboard Confessional

So quiet
another wasted night,
the television steals the conversation
exhale,
another wasted breath,
again it goes unnoticed.

Please tell me you're just feeling tired
cause if it's more than that I feeel that I might break
out of touch, out of time.
Please send me anything but signals that are mixed
casue I can't read your rolling eyes
out of touch, are we out of time?

Close lipped
another goodnight kiss
is robbed of all it's passion,
your grip
another time, is slack
it leaves me feeling empty.

I'll wait until tomorrow
maybe you'll feel better then
maybe we'll be better then
so what's another day
when I can't bear these nights of thoughts
of going on without you
this mood of yours is temporary
it seems worth the wait
to see your smile again
out of the corner of your eye
won't be the only way you'll look at me then.

I would die for you
I would die for you
I've been dying just to feel you by my side
To know that you're mine

I will cry for you
I will cry for you
I will wash away your pain with all my tears
And drown your fear

I will pray for you
I will pray for you
I will sell my soul for something pure and true
Someone like you

See your face every place that I walk in
Hear your voice every time that I'm talking
You will believe in me
And I will never be ignored

I will burn for you
Feel pain for you
I will twist the knife and bleed my aching heart
And tear it apart

I will lie for you
Beg and steal for you
I will crawl on hands and knees until you see
You're just like me

Violate all the love that I'm missing
Throw away all the pain that I'm living
You will believe in me
And I can never be ignored

I would die for you
I would kill for you
I will steal for you
I'd do time for you
I will wait for you
I'd make room for you
I'd sink ships for you
To be close to you
To be part of you
'cause I believe in you
I believe in you
I would die for you

That's what movies are about man: a merge of paintings and music. IMO, a good movie tends to be one that makes good use of music. Most of my favorite movies have some good, noticable music (be it songs, or a score) in them. Movies are, to me, a merge of several art forms...which is probably why I'm so fond of good music in a movie...at least from what I've seen so far.

Yes, AWESOME soundtrack, and an awesome movie. I live in two households, and BOTH bought that soundtrack. Track 14, "O Death" is a personal favorite. My mom said it best: "they just stuck some old guy in the recording booth." No instruments or nothing. Just him and the microphone, I guess. Track 18 ("Lonesome Valley," I think it's called) is great, too. I would mention track 16, but that goes without saying. "PO Lazarus" is great, too. Damn, they're almost all great.

Anyone who loved O Brother, Where Art Thou?'s soundtrack should definitely check out the documentary Down from the Mountain.

Is that on the DVD? I haven't explored it yet (just watched the movie mostly). It had damn well better be.

Everything's so blurry, everyone is fake.......

I'm not old, you're just 12.
I have yet to see Down from the Mountain, I have the soundtrack to said film, and it is definitely worth listening to once or twice.

Bob Dylan - THE MAN IN ME

The man in me will do nearly any task,
And as for compensation, there's little he would ask.
Take a woman like you
To get through to the man in me.

Storm clouds are raging all around my door,
I think to myself I might not take it any more.
Take a woman like your kind
To find the man in me.

But, oh, what a wonderful feeling
Just to know that you are near,
Sets my a heart a-reeling
From my toes up to my ears.

The man in me will hide sometimes to keep from bein' seen,
But that's just because he doesn't want to turn into some machine.

Took a woman like you
To get through to the man in me.

Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk by Rufus Wainwright

cigarettes and chocolate milk
these are just a couple of my cravings
everything it seems i like's a little bit stronger
a little bit thicker, a little bit harmful for me

if i should buy jellybeans
have to eat them all in just one sitting
everything it seems i like's a little bit sweeter
a little bit fatter, a little bit harmful for me

and then there's those other thing
which for several reasons we won't mention
everything about them is a little bit stanger, a little bit harder
a little bit deadly

it isn't very smart
tends to make one part
so brokenhearted

sitting here remembering me
always been a shoe made for the city
go ahead accuse me of just singing about places
or scrappy boy's faces have general run out of town

playing with prodigal sons
takes a lot of sentimental valiums
can't expect the world to be your raggedy andy
while running on empty, you little old doll with a frown

you got to keep in the game
retaining mystique while facing forward
i suggest a reading of a lesson in tightropes
or surfing your high hopes of adios kansas

it isn't very smart
tends to make one part
so brokenhearted

still there's not a show on my back
holes or a friendly intervention
i'm just a little bit heiress, a little bit irish
a little bit tower of pisa
whenever i see ya
so please be kind if i'm a mess

cigarettes and chocolate milk
cigarettes and chocolate milk

I love Rufus Wainwright. I think his latest cd is my favorite cd i own right now.

Hey where did we go,
Days when the rains came
Down in the hollow,
Playin' a new game,
Laughing and a running hey, hey
Skipping and a jumping
In the misty morning fog with
Our hearts a thumpin' and you
My brown eyed girl,
You my brown eyed girl.

Whatever happened
To Tuesday and so slow
Going down the old mind
With a transistor radio
Standing in the sunlight laughing,
Hiding behind a rainbow's wall,
Slipping and sliding
All along the water fall, with you
My brown eyed girl,
You my brown eyed girl.

Do you remember when we used to sing,
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da

So hard to find my way,
Now that I'm all on my own.
I saw you just the other day,
My how you have grown,
Cast my memory back there, Lord
Sometime I'm overcome thinking 'bout
Making love in the green grass
Behind the stadium with you
My brown eyed girl
You my brown eyed girl

Do you remember when we used to sing
Sha la la la la la la la la la la te da.

Van Morrison is the Man!

Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult. This song is amazing. It really, really is. Great, great song.

All our times have come
Here but now they're gone
Seasons don't fear the reaper
Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain..we can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man...

Valentine is done
Here but now they're gone
Romeo and Juliet
Are together in eternity...Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday......Like Romeo and Juliet
40,000 men and women everyday......Redefine happiness
Another 40,000 coming everyday......We can be like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Baby take my hand...don't fear the reaper
We'll be able to fly...don't fear the reaper
Baby I'm your man

Love of two is one
Here but now they're gone
Came the last night of sadness
And it was clear she couldn't go on
Then the door was open and the wind appeared
The candles blew then disappeared
The curtains flew then he appeared...saying don't be afraid
Come on baby...and she had no fear
And she ran to him...then they started to fly
They looked backward and said goodbye...she had become like they are
She had taken his hand...she had become like they are
Come on baby...don't fear the reaper
Oh, and I must, of course, say: I need more cow bell, baby!
