wich is good hollywood movie recent?

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Is that something similar to which recent Hollywood movie is decent? I don't really know and I don't actually care quite yet since I care more about my "health" than "Hollywood". I will tell you though, "You are in the wrong thread!"

Our good friend rufnek emailed me some photos and asked me to post them here, which means I get all the rep! Unless he's shrewd enough to reply and create a receptacle for it. Forget I said anything.

So here they are! Soak in the old-timey goodness. He also included this text:

First photo was taken of me in my early days at Fort Riley, Kan., a slick-sleeve private no-class 4 months after basic training. It was my 19th birthday, but I had forgotten it until we were walking back to the barracks from the hospital. Remember the thread some time ago about a young actress saying "c*nt" in a film? Well, that's my garrison cap I'm wearing in that photo, popularly known among GIs as a "c*nt cap" for obvious reasons. It was the cap I usually wore when in dress uniform, not because of its designation but because it was easy to fold up and stick in a jacket pocket or roll up and put under the epaulets on my khaki shirt when indoors. The saucer cap in the second photo you had to carry or remember not to lay it down and go off without it. Anyway, that's me standing guard on the Frontiers of Freedom in 1962.

Second photo is my in my dress green uniform that we wore in winter, whether it felt like winter or not. This is more than a year later when I had made E-4, Specialist 4th class. Think I was making nearly $100/month at that point, a large part of which went into an allotment to my wife with the Army also chipping in a bit. The baby in the carrier is my daughter Michele. She was almost a month old in that photo which was taken in my grandma's yard in East Texas. Went to visit all my relatives just before I shipped off to Germany for something like 16-18 months. Can't tell much from this photo but my daughter was a beauty, then and now. Anyway, you'll notice in both pictures, I am properly "covered" (wearing a hat) out-of-doors while in uniform. I did it--so why can't they get it right in the movies????

Third photo, as it says, is me today--fatter, older, a lot grayer. But still smiling. It's easier to smile than frown, you know, and more women will talk to you! But behind that battered mug is the 17-year-old kid you see in the fourth picture, looking out of my tired, weak eyes and wondering where the hell did all the time go so quickly!

He had some technical problems. Not sure what they were yet, but we weren't able to troubleshoot them so he just emailed them to me.

I think he looks like Colin Hanks in that second one.

Well, you know how it is with us pretty boys--all looks, no brains or talent.

I couldn't get the damn things to download in the forum. That's why I never got to drive the wheelbarrow back on the farm--don't know a damn thing about machery.

I should have included some before-and-after shots of my divorces--then you could see what aged me.

With the exception of the glasses and the 'tash, ruf's not too dissimilar from how I pictured him.
The 'tash started when I and the other teaching assistants in the Journalism Department at Texas Tech decided for some reason we were all gonna grow one. That was back about 1970-71. I shaved it once years later while on vacation and was mortified at how the bags under my eyes stood out without the distraction of the facial hair, so I grew it back again and have kept it ever since. Funny thing is that after shaving it off, I walked around for hours before my oldest son ever noticed it. It was the only time my boys ever saw me without it.

The glasses I wore off and on starting in high school. They were prescribed after I kept getting headaches, wore them awhile, started getting headaches again, and quit. Continued that trend for awhile before finally giving them up altogether. Then one day I was trying to find the location of a shooting on a city map and couldn't read the street name in fine print. Started wearing glasses regularly after that. First regular specs, then bifocals, then trifocals. Next step will be a seeing-eye dog.

"Chihuahua!!! They gave me a damn Chihuahua??????"
