Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Frankenstein is often considered the first sci-fi novel, but the movie is certainly horror. Dilemmas, dilemmas.

Bright light. Bright light. Uh oh.
Holden has a good list, although it's far from complete. Should we post and debate that or let everybody nominate 20 of their own? We'd probably need a lot more than 20 apiece to overcome the overlap, but we have some solid ones, although I want the specialists to chime in here. I know we need to add Let the Right One In to Holds' list.

Oh sorry, Dest, if I'm stepping on any toes here, but this list is definitely aimed toward older, classic flicks if you haven't seen it yet.

I'm going to give this a tad bit of time to be noticed. Just two to three days. We'll see who all wants in. Not everyone makes it here during the weekend, or maybe they'll just overlook it. I'll see how quickly the list grows.

Go ahead and make your own personal list. Horror movies that you'd love to see on the list, but also movies that you truly believe belong on the list. Don't post them, though.

When I first posted this, I thought I'd have you all PM your lists to me, and then I'd keep track of them that way. I guess it's because I'm so use to that with all the games I've made. Anyway, I assumed maybe 5 or so people would be interested in this. It may be a lot more than that, so I'll hold off on the "how to" for now.

Will your system be alright, when you dream of home tonight?
I'll do it, I fear I may not be much help, but ya know what Zombie movies, I love em, so I wanna make sure they get represented.

Holden has a good list, although it's far from complete.
I forgot to reply to this. I received the list, and I own 58 of them. I love my collection! I've seen a few others from it, and a few others sound interesting. I'll look into them very soon. Of course there's also a few that I hate, but like I said before, that's going to happen.

Again, if you would like to work up a list, go ahead. Hell, go ahead and send me what you think should be on it. Then, by the time it gets here, I'll have a heads start on this part. I feel pretty confident that we will all agree/compromise/be satisfied enough by the end results. Whatever you do, don't expect to love every single movie on the list.

Yeah, I'm pretty much wingin' it!

What? I don't like horror movies?

Some that I think are absolute necessities are Halloween (1978), Psycho (1960), The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974), A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984), Scream (1996)... and of course, you know, Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, the 1920's or 1930's Phantom of the Opera, the 1920's Nosferatu... Alien (1970 something), Night of the Living Dead (1968), Dawn of the Dead (1970 something)...

I personally would also like to see Hellraiser (1987)... The Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2... The Return of the Living Dead (1985), if possible, especially since I think that's the first time zombies craved just brains... I think An American Werewolf in London (1981?) would be good... Child's Play (1988)... maybe The Howling...

I would include Saw... oh, and of course, Friday the 13th (1980)... don't think we need to include any other sequels... The Blair Witch Project (1999).... The Fly (1980 something) would be good... Candyman (1992)...

Hmm... Suspiria (1970's), Ringu....

I think a lot of those are good choices.

Well, you all can discuss the movies here, but when you work up an actual list, please PM them to me. I want people's honest opinions on what they think should be on the list. Then I'm going to compare them, take numbers, and start asking opinions here.

As I said to start, we won't be voting them off, because that's been done on another board, and it didn't add up. Too often, people vote off movies they've never seen. That just doesn't seem fair.

Here are some I'd like to see make the list...

The Mask of Satan aka Black Sunday
The Innocents
Carnival of Souls
The Haunting (1963)
Repulsion
Rosemary's Baby
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The Exorcist
Don't Look Now
Black Christmas
(1974)
The Wicker Man
(1973)
The Omen
(1976)

I want you all to work up a top 100 horror movies list. I already have your's, Holden. Unless you've altered it some more. Anyway, get it as close to 100 as you can, and put them in order. Do not post them. PM them to me.

Are you planning on making a list?
What I posted is pretty much it really. I haven't seen many horror movies that predate 1960 besides obvious stuff like Nosferatu, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, House on Haunted Hill, Invaders from Mars, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Them, The Thing from Another World, etc etc. I don't think it would be right for me to say what's best from that period because I've not seen enough.

So that's the order you think they should be in?
No, it's not in any order of preference. I posted before you asked for that, and it'd be much too agonising for me anyway. They're just films I'd like to see on the list

Yo-ho Mofos. I'm game.

Someone should give OG a holler, i've seen him post up a few decent lists over on his site. Worth a butchers.

From glancing through thread and if i get what plan is of 'us' making the list, i'm just hoping we can get in enough 'out-there' films in so it's a list we can all work off, not just immediately tick 90% off.

Hmmmm......
Okay. I'm in. I shall think upon it.

"The Addiction" isn't even one of Ferrara's best films.
"Thriller"? A 25 odd minute music video. Damn good music video, but it can't even classify as a film due to length alone.
If you include this why not 30 minute episodes of TV shows. Also short, also not films and also done for TV showing.

And quite frankly I don't know anyone who would put the 'theatrical edit' of "Salem's Lot" on any best of lists!
And surely you can't include the multipart, TV mini series, version as a film!?

Blimey...Come on guys and gals, we can do better than this thing.

Wow there are some barely average things on that list. No better then the HMV list they ere so against.

As for what qualifies. I think Sci-Fi with obvious Horror elements can be included.

Just starting mine, and it is very depressing to have to put (original) after so many of them.

No, it's not in any order of preference. I posted before you asked for that, and it'd be much too agonizing for me anyway. They're just films I'd like to see on the list
I assumed you all would know to number them, when I mentioned this a day or two ago, about you all PMing me a list. It's at the top of this page of posts. It really doesn't matter now. I have an idea, but first . . .

I have this one on mine, but I don't picture anyone giving a crap . . .

25. Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) dir: Jack Arnold

I have this one on mine, but I don't picture anyone knowing about it, or giving a crap . . .

47. The Brain That Wouldn’t Die (1962) dir: Joseph Green

I haven't seen this one mentioned, so I suppose no one likes it enough . . .

The Last Man on Earth (1964)

I was hoping to get a list from each of you. Then we'd go from there. Not many people will be in on this, so it should be rather easy taking the lists, combining them from most mentioned, to least mentioned.

What I'm trying to say is . . . Everyone will send me a list of 100 horror films, or less if you have any trouble. I will make a list from that. I will put them in order from most mentioned, to least mentioned. Every last film that is mentioned will be on the list that I post, just in case someone forgets about some of them. We will then discuss that list, possibly view some of the films that people think need to be viewed before we do our new lists, and then everyone will send me an updated list that I will again total up from highest to least mentioned. I will post that, and I reckon we will see how everyone feels about that top 100.

I heard/read that!

Remember people . . . PM THEM TO ME!
