Also I would say listen to "real metal" because Slipknot is not metal enough to be "not real metal", it's just pop-rock with distortion.

Very interesting album, it was the first one from Devin Townsend I listened. Not particularly in my tastes, reminds me of Dream Theater as well, being less riff driven than typical metal.
