What was the last DVD you bought and why?

^ Yep. If you want the blu-ray you would have to import from Germany, it's out there on blu-ray. Was thinking of getting it, yet to see the film.

Pornografia from Poland and La Terre (1921) from France...

Why? they both looked compelling. Pornografia isnt about what you think, it takes place during WWII in Warsaw.

" War intrudes on the country idyll when a murder happens during dinner at the estate and when the local guerrilla commander seems to lose his grip. Rumors that the war may end soon don't halt deadly turns."

Finished here. It's been fun.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Saw this one in a $5 bargin bin, so simply had to scoop it up. Looks very promising.

It's beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. Maybe a little too long and a little slow, but I really liked it.

North by Northwest

Because the Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection I bought didn't have it - despite the fact that it's better than 13/14 of the movies the collection did have.

Finally!!! Something in common again!

Loved Woman in the Dunes, excited to see more by this fantastic director.

Thane of Glamis, Thane of Cawdor, & King Hereafter
I actually bought three, last time I bought any. Reasons: 1) good deal ($6.50 each, including tax), and 2) they were on my "to-buy list".

Gladiator
Beetlejuice
The Shawshank Redemption

We've gone on holiday by mistake
12 Years a Slave because it looks reasonably good.

Homefront cause the trailer looked quite fun.

Rock'N'Rolla" with Gerard Butler because it was only £3 and I've never seen it.

The Bib-iest of Nickels
I bought a pack with the first nine Puppet Master movies and a twenty-pack filled with Full Moon horror movies, all for about seventeen dollars.

I'm not old, you're just 12.

I've been having a rough week, and this movie cheered me up when I saw it, so it got purchased and now happily resides on my DVD shelf.

Our local Vintage Stock has a sale over the Memorial Day weekend, buy 2 dvds and get a 3rd free. Here is what I bought :

Cure (1997), It looked very interesting and had a good rating on IMDB so I thougth I would check it out.

Cinema Paradiso (1988), I have heard really good reviews on this film.

The Hidden Fortress (1958, Criterion Collection), again good reviews and its a criterion to add to my collection.

I went to my local cheap DVD shop today and picked up:

The "Back to the Future" trilogy - I don't think a reason is needed except I was silly and have only just got round to this.

Special edition "Pulp Fiction" - twenty years ago with all new features

Special edition "Get Shorty" - a film I have always enjoyed, I had it on VHS and never updated

"The Departed" - one of my favourite mob rat films

"Crash" (2004) - I know a lot say it is like being hit over the head with a fish being told "you know racism is bad right?" but I really love it as a film

"Atonement" - never seen it but heard a lot of good about it

All for a rather nice 15 pounds

*edit: forgot to give my reasons
