If you watch any movie out of this series, please watch only and I mean ONLY the 1st SAW movie because it is brilliant, especially the ending which will never be given away, otherwise, it would be doing you an injustice knowing it ahead of time... Anything after this movie seems like nothing more than torture porn, like bad snuff movies, but the 1st movie is very well done and well thought out.. That much I will give it.. I mean after 10 movies now, wouldn't a 9MM be able to take care of Jigsaw once and for all??

Unfortunately I already know the spoiler with that one, but I have a strong hunch that you are totally right. I love horror movies a lot, but the franchise-type films were never my thing. It just reminds me of some commentary that I saw about how the first Saw was actually a criticism/satire of US "enhanced interrogation measures" used in the early 2000s.

When Star Wars Celebration goes too far

I haven't watched any of the new ones after Saw 3D. I don't expect this one to be a return to form, even though Tobin Bell always does a fantastic job. Without him several of the sequels would be completely useless, which is why attempting to make one without him which was the case with Spiral is a vain exercise. Who gave a shit about that movie besides a select audience who wants to see Chris Rock try to act tough?

Have to say that I was feeling excited for this one until seeing this trailer. Was always a fan of the franchise, even the much maligned entries that came after the original trilogy was finished, with the exception of Saw VI, which was abysmal in pretty much every way. This one seems to be a rehash of that one, tackling a very similar theme in what appears to be a very similar way. And coming from the same director, I don't have my hopes up after seeing this.

Tobin Bell will be great in this, though. He always is.

Saw is totally my guilty pleasure movie franchise.

Starz had all of these except for Spiral on their Amazon subscription so I did a marathon over a few days. I recall me and a couple of my friends going to see the original and Part II the following year but I never stopped to watch the others. They're all pretty consistent, nothing great, IV is the only one I would call pretty bad. The one with the insurance guy might almost be a good movie in a slapstick kind of way. Spiral was okay, nothing special or bad.

Have not seen a saw movie in like 10 years, looking foward to checking this one out.

Valdez23 09-01-23 03:00 PM

Just read an article on Bloody Disgusting where the director promises we'll see more Jigsaw than any previous film. I'm so stoked for this.

I tried linking it but it's not allowing me to post it.

I mean, it's now listed as the longest film in the franchise yet so I imagine it wins that distinction by default.

Saw weekend. Going Sunday.

Re: Saw X

The fact the film currently has an 85% on Rotten Tomatoes tickles me a fair bit (I am certain it will drop by the time it is all said and finished). The idea of the tenth Saw film of all things being the first film to receive a positive critical reception is a hilarious, who would've guessed it.
