Boxing in film documentary

Watched a semi decent doc about boxing in films, yesterday.

Anyone else checked it out?

Yeah it was pretty good, I seem to remember Lennox Lewis recalling his fight with Mike Tyson, also some archive footage of Muhammed Ali and Tyson. Worth watching if it interests you.

Re: Boxing in film documentary

Watched this last night. I thought all the early footage was fascinating - the boxing cats! - and how they related some of the earlier boxing movies to the political climate etc. But this wasn't really followed through with more recent movies. It seemed to be just 'and then they made Million Dollar Baby and The Fighter and they got Oscars', no real attempt to relate this to modern boxing and changing perceptions of the sport. No mention of attempts to ban boxing, or women's boxing becoming an Olympic sport, for example. It was also very Hollywood-orientated. Probably just an excuse for Danny Leigh to go on a jolly to the States, if his sunburn was anything to go by.

Lol, always love your posts, Thurs. Even if I don't necessarily agree with them.

I guess they needed more than an hour to really go into the stuff you mentioned. I loved the Thomas Edison boxing cats thing!

One thing I found most interesting was how Joe Louis ended up as a casino greeter ): Dark ****. Theres also a few boxing film's they mentioned that I have yet to see.
