Your Top 5 Favourite Acting Performances

Hopefully this will be different enough not to seem repetitive – I just thought it was an interesting angle on the subject :).

I don't know mine off the top of my head but I thought 5 was a nice easy number for people to think up.

I still want to see that. I saw him recently in The Door, which was unusual because he was dubbed in German. At least in Denmark he could dub it with his own voice.

One that really stands out above the rest would be from the show This is England '90 episode 3. When Lol tells her sister about being abused by their Dad. It felt like I was watching a real family. That scene destroyed me. I was beaten to a pulp and left blubbering in a corner. It was great.

Is that Vicky McClure? I get the impression she's very good; striking-looking as well. I remember her in A Room for Romeo Brass.

I made a rod for my own back with this one ;):p. It's really difficult trying to think of a top five and I'm not restricting it to just films either.

1: Jeremy Brett in Sherlock Holmes

Having thought about it, Brett's genius performance kept coming to mind, so I'm happy to put him in number 1 spot. I often mention that what fascinates me is the precise control he showed over his expressions, which seems to be unrivalled. He's the definitive Holmes for good reason :p.

DalekbusterScreen5 08-31-16 06:05 PM

1. Jenna Coleman in Doctor Who - Face The Raven
Purely for the way she delivers the line 'Let me be brave, let me be brave, let me be brave' when basically facing her death.
2. David Tennant in The End of Time Part 2. The regeneration scene still makes me cry.
3. Hugh Jackman in Les Miserables. People always go for Anne Hathaway but I thought Hugh Jackman was a fantastic Jean Valjean. His death was very emotional.
4. Kate McKinnon in Ghostbusters (2016). She was the highlight of the film for me. Wonderfully quirky.
5. Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. There's a reason why his performance as Captain Jack Sparrow is so iconic. He's very engaging to watch.

SeeingisBelieving 08-31-16 06:11 PM

2: Micha Bergese in The Company of Wolves

Particularly for my favourite ever film scene, where Rosaleen meets the Huntsman. This was just perfect casting, especially with Bergese bringing the physicality of a dancer to the character. He also does some great things in close-ups.

She looks good – I'd like to see what she does with it.
