A Dying Piece Of Music (Allegedly) For February
Same as was done in previous tournaments of this type.....
Every couple of days will be a new 'round' where any and all newly nominated songs are up against each other. As soon as voting starts for one 'round' nominations will be accepted for the next 'round'. Players vote by ranking all the songs in that 'round' from 1 (their favourite) to n (their least favourite). Songs will be awarded points based on their positional ranking in each vote (number of points will depend on the number of songs contesting the 'round' - if 10 songs #1 song would get 10 points, #10 song would get 1 point). The winning song from each 'round' (or songs in the case of a tie) goes through to the 'Final' at the end of the month. Songs that made it to previous 'finals' are ineligible -
list here
Simples but if any relevant questions just ask. |

For future noms if you edit the "www." to "m." it'll produce a link to the video rather than the video itself, just makes the rounds easier to present - I'll do that for you for this one when I'm creating Round 1. Welcome in, hopefully you get some enjoyment this month out of it. |
A warm welcome back to those returning for what will hopefully provide a little enjoyment throughout the month and an equally warm welcome to crumbsroom who joins in for the first time...

AMG claims this is one of the best records in the last 5 years, or maybe even 10. That got me curious, at least. Weird record. Damned weird record. |

Probably, but I don't look at who nominated what song before listening to the songs because I don't want it to affect my opinion of the songs. And I only look at who nominated a song after I listen to it if it's a song that I liked a lot. I usually get a better idea of people's musical taste from reading the conversations about the songs after people listen to them. |

I actually listen to all of the songs to the end of the song, even if I don't like the song. I just lower the volume a bit if it's not my type of music. (And no, I don't lower it all the way to mute.) Sometimes I even have to listen to the songs that I don't like at least twice just to figure out which one should be at the bottom of my list. :( |

Whether or not I watch the video depends on what I'm doing when I'm listening to the songs. Sometimes I'm exercising, so I can't see my computer screen at the time, and other times I'm just relaxing in front of the computer. So if you want me to watch the video, you should mention it when you nominate the song, and I'll make sure to watch it while listening. :) |

Re: A Dying Piece Of Music (Allegedly) For February
For the record, I liked that Sarah Shook song quite a bit more than most of the other country music that has been posted in these threads, for whatever that it worth! The line about "drinking water tonight because she drank all the whiskey in the mornin'" is pretty awesome.
|
just for funsies and to see what i'm getting into i listened to the round 2 selections and thought i'd share some thoughts. hope posting a list won't be a nuisance for the host trying to tally votes <3
01. Sarah Shook & The Disarmers - Dwight Yoakam - the style of country i like and that shake in her voice is just heavenly 02. no buses - home - kind of on the same page as what i nominated for round 3, love when it gets noisy, love the drum plugins 03. Japanese Breakfast - Be Sweet - fun and cute, maybe a style that's starting to get old but this still hits 04. Tinchy Stryder ft. N-Dubz - Number 1 - i hated this style at the time but now i'm lowkey nostalgic for it. great chorus 05. Machine Girl - Out by 16, Dead on the Scene - just a bunch fun grooves! 06. Moondog - Theme (Instrumental) - feels like only an intro but it sounds dope anyway 07. Nova Twins - Antagonist - cool track, gives me Rico Nasty vibes. unfortunately haven't completely deprogrammed the negative knee-jerk reaction i have to nu-metal quite yet 08. Sophie Barker - Let's Start Again - lots of fun sounds, doesn't quite get the needle moving but its still nice 09. Churchburn - Swallowed by Dust - adjacent to a lot of metal i like but for this particular sound to really hit for me it has to be a lot more crushing. dig the vocals tho and by the end it does get going 10. Tanya Tagaq - Colonizer - love all the sounds used but i was just waiting for it to kick into 2nd gear 11. Scardust - Concrete Cages - there's not a lot of music in this style that i like. its clearly well performed and all that but just not for me. the breakdown where the bass starts going nuts is kinda fun tho 12. Thomas Rhett - Die a Happy Man - and this is the kind of country i don't like. still generally inoffensive tho good batch of tracks. only the bottom two i'd say i dislike and neither of those were close to being hated or anything. |
