That song? I looked it up and it was listed as Celtic Punk like I figured it would be. Which list is it on?

Joanna Newsom - Inflammatory Writ
Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling & Dharohar Project - To Darkness/Kripa (not a Mumford and Sons fan but I love this one project they did)
Bon Iver - Creature Fear
Nick Drake - Day is Done (the God of folk)
Neil Young - Old Man
Vashti Bunyan - Train Song
Pink Floyd - If (where my username originates)
Ooh, I forgot about Nick Drake. And probably a bunch of others. I trust I can edit my nominations up until Friday, Godoggo?

My favorite Nick Drake song is actually Man in a Shed, but I nominated that in one of the last tournaments.

It's written by a folk singer and preformed by a band that sometimes preforms folkish type music but that particular song isn't listed as folk.

Everybody knows that song. What is everyone else's opinion about it? It's pretty hard to be folk to me but I'll take everyone's else's opinion into consideration.

I definitely wouldn't call it folk, personally.

Re: Folk Song Tournament

I wouldn't consider it folk either. Sorry Derek.

Would "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" be considered folk? I think it's indie-folk-rock, but what is the ruling on it?

I've nominated an indie folk song (my cowboy junkies one) I want to have a lot of different type of folk so I'm fine with it.

I'm happy I did this tournament. I think just about everyone has nominated a song I really love.

It's got folk instruments in it, has an Irish folk quality but it's also performed more as Punk. Punk Folk I'd call it.

Off to find links. Let me know if something's not eligible or if it's already been nominated.
Great pick, I had that marked down but didn't want to pick 2 from the same artist.
