The characters are interesting, the script can be funny, tensive and haunting, the directing is Altman at his best, the film has a warm, heartfelt core and the story is very interesting and entertaining to follow.

Altman's second unit director, Lou Lombardo, had handled the editing of Brewster McCloud and this film as well - all of this seems typical of the ad hoc style Altman so successfully used to create his films - a kind of style that would bring most other filmmakers undone.
